I would like to start this off by saying a lot of people just don't know where to start when it comes to internet fraud and just what the laws are.  A lot of people report thieves to the Internet Fraud Bureau but the fact is in this new day and age cyber crime is happening so often these agencies are overwhelmed with reports and the bigger cases are handled first with small 'game transactions gone bad' being very insignificant in the grand scale of things.  I put together a step by step guide below and maybe this will help!

After you follow these steps the bad guys should have some real problems!!! It is felony internet fraud if you send someone money or goods and do not receive what you have paid for. Please keep in mind that under federal law the seller/trader has exactly 30 days to complete the transaction from his/her date of receiving your money or package. I suggest using delivery confirmation on any transaction you may do in the future because this is proof of time lines and also proof the item or money had been received.

In closing, I would just like to say that I really hope this answers some of the questions my fellow gamers and internet consumers have. We can't get all of the bad guys, folks, but I believe if we fight this evil one scammer at a time we can make a difference. This kind of garbage can not be tolerated and together no matter how small we can all make a difference.

The Internet Fraud FAQ
by Gamers Abyss

There is something you can do!!!

I have used this method and it works.

The Step-by-Step Plan

Step 1:

Okay the first thing that needs to be done is gather all email correspondence from the party that is trying to commit the crime and all the email that you have sent them. I suggest printing the emails off. If the transaction took place on say Neo-Geo.com or eBay, you should also get a copy of the ad or auction and payment receipt for your cancelled check, money order, or Payal.

Please make sure you keep all emails and receipts! They are crucial evidence!!!

Step 2:

Using his/her address find out where the local state police, local police, and prosecutor are located and call information and get the phone numbers.

Step 3:

Start with the local police and state police and ask to talk to the internet fraud division. This division should be within the local or state police one. Ask to speak to an investigator.

Step 4:

Once on the phone with an investigator let him know the situation and that you have email and payment receipts and tell him you want to swear out a warrant for internet fraud. At this point they should get a hold of the prosecutor and swear a warrant out for their arrest. They will first want all of the evidence faxed, emailed, or snail mailed to their office.

Step 5:

I suggest after they have all of the information needed from the transaction contacting the prosecutor personally and making sure he received the information.

The trap is SPRUNG!!!

You may ask yourself doesn't it have to be a certain dollar amount? NO!! Under the new internet fraud laws if a computer is used to defraud someone this is no longer a street crime and falls under federal internet guidelines!!!

I really hope this helps!

Peace.
