Does anybody know if wwf superstars requires -5volts? I can't find a manual PDF anywhere. I have wrestlefest and it does not require -5 so I am optimistic that superstars is the same.

In general, a Jamma board needs +5V to power on (and operate it) and +12 for sound.

But, some Jamma boards also require -5v for sound, so, if you power a the game up, and the +12V lines are attached, but the -5v lines are not attached, and you don't hear any game sounds; then, your next move should be to turn the game off, attach the -5V lines, turn the board back on, and see if you get any game sounds.

Cool thanks. My issue is that my cab is a big red 4 slot so I will have to add the lines and I don't believe my power supply is switchable so there is that. I am waiting to receive the board so in guess ill know soon enough

Also, in general, be careful: Running a Mono Sound board with Stereo Speakers can cause the on-board power amp to overheat and burn out.

Jamma cabs are set up for MONO sound. And, thus, work with one 8 ohm speaker; however, MVS cabs are setup for STEREO Sound. And thus, work with TWO 4 Ohm speakers.

Since SUPERSTARS is a JAMMA board, it is setup to work with one 8 Ohm speaker (and not two 4 Ohm speakers). If you want to run it in an MVS cab, then you'll need to check out a JAMMA to MVS adapter.

Yeah, it's possible for some Jamma boards to run (at low volume) in a Stereo cab, but it all depends on the power amp IC on the board and if it can handle it. Seen some amps can't handle it and get hot to the touch, fast, after power on, and have to be turned off right away to prevent a burnout problem, but other amps stay cool~warm and work ok. It all depends on IC the board.

Personally, if you're going to play the board a lot, then I'd look at getting an adapter solution. All your Jamma boards can benefit form it.

If you aren't sure if a board needs -5v, just look at the pins at the jamma edge. According to the picture it looks like it might since it has traces coming from pin 5. Just follow them and see where they go. If they go to something in the sound section then you know it needs it.

Thanks everyone for the info. I will most likely get the mvs/jamma adapter

I was just going to chime in and say that this game does not require -5v to run. I used to have this board along with WrestleFest and never had -5v wired up. I think I had to for Wrestlemania but those damn Midway boards are always funny.

I kinda figured since wrestlefest doesn't need the -5v that superstars would be the same, from an iterative standpoint. Thanks for answering my initial Q! Much appreesh
