WTB: OG XBOX repair

Does anyone repair/mod the OG xbox? I just moved and when I started putting everything back together, i got the error screen that my console needs service and the light is flashing green and red. It also has the error code 11 on the top left corner. After doing a little research i saw that usually relates to the dvd drive, so i tried reseating the cables last night and when i put it back together it worked, but when i turned it on this morning the error is back. I dont care about getting the system modded, just repaired, unless it needs to be modded for the repair. Thanks in advance.

I'm not super familiar with this specific error, but if it is only a faulty DVD drive, it's fairly simple to replace. If you have ever replaced a part in a desktop computer, the difficulty level is similar. IIRC, it's under 10 torx screws and you just need to remove the power and data wires for the hard drive and DVD drive to replace it. The Xbox is modular and it's fairly straightforward. Modding isn't necessary for replacing the DVD drive.

Anyway, I just wanted to mention this possibility because shipping two ways on an Xbox is probably expensive nowadays.

Thanks for the advice. I’m comfortable doing something like that, I took it that far apart last night to check the cables. Maybe I’ll give that a shot.

I've got a parts Xbox that I can take the disc drive drive cables from. They worked last time I tested them. If you would want them to try another set, they're yours for the cost of shipping.

He's right its the DVD drive, had it happen one of mine recently, I tried swapping cables without luck, had to do the whole drive.
While you have it open, I would recommend removing the clock cap as well as it is known to leak and ruin the board

It can only be removed and not replaced on board revisions 1.0 to 1.5. If OP has a 1.6 board, the cap has to be replaced, otherwise the board won't boot without it. People have said the supercap in the 1.6 is good and doesn't leak, but my 1.6 Xbox that had a really hard life did actually have its supercap start bulging, I had to replace it.
