Wow, it's very nice to see this place still up. I must thank everyone here for keeping the community running.
Just returning for collecting again.
I'm looking for a collectable grade NEOGEO AES system obviously boxed and everything shipped to NJ.
I have a few consoles in mind that are on eBay but I wanted to see if I can find a deal here.
Im also looking for other systems in CIB as well so please let me know. (Have my eyes on this sealed N64 on eBay for around $1440 ish is that a good price?)
Thanks guys.

That’s great price on a brand new n64.

Just an fyi I’ve been watching that same one as well and very tempted to pull the trigger. You should buy it before I do, lol. The next decent looking one is like $3000.

A small tear on that thing in the worst place considering it's "sealed". Right over the opening lip, and its orientation. Not saying its been tempered, but... lets just say there is no rush in collecting. But taking your advice, I guess it is a good price.

Uh he's winding you up. Don't buy a sealed N64. Go outside, touch grass, breathe the unstable air.

Remember retrogame collecting is a mental illness. Is there any reason why you want to buy one of the most underwhelming consoles ever made sealed? Bad taste?

I used to collect consoles in the past in whatever conditions available, because I actually played them. Sadly I don't have the time to play them anymore so I plan to display them. Keep them close, for nostalgia I guess. I started collecting new and mint consoles only. I agree with you, its a mental illness. But I already have other mental illnesses like collecting watches and whiskies so what's another one

I've been waiting to grab that N64 as well. Just waiting on my Tax Return to come in. I've been all pent-up lately wanting to play some Mario Party and Donkey Kong 64.

N64 is probably the greatest console ever next to Neo Geo.

I have a few sealed AES consoles, one for each region release. I'd be willing to part but I'd have a few questions for you to answer as I don't really want to sell any of them but to the right person I could be swayed. Firstly before the questions can I see the storage arrangement you have in mind or already have for storing something of this caliber? The very idea of selling one of these to someone who will just put it up in a closet or worse yet under the bed is probably the most horrifying thought I could have, I might even have nightmares if it did actually occur it really is that concerning. So as I said I am very particular as to whom such an item would go to.

Please respond only in this thread.

I personally would suggest never selling to anyone that doesn't have a dedicated humidity controlled gaming room. Also, if they plan on opening it, I would pass. The piece probably needs to be in a museum.

Exactly, if @MyulChi intends to disturb the factory seal I really cannot see us doing business. I always draw up a contract as part of a sale as to what can be or can not be done to, with the item in question. This way I only deal with like minded individuals and we as a collective protect the sanctum of originality whilst enjoying the yearning, trading and ownership of such pieces of video game history. It really is the zenith of the hobby.

There's a solid case for watches being an even worse malady...
That's because you clearly aren't a top tier collector, the only malady is people like yourself who are simply buying watches as opposed to curating the history of wrist bound time keeping.

Yeah.... things have changed a bit in the "community" since you last visited.

"Collectors" are not welcome around these parts, especially those openly suggesting they're willing to drop $$$$$$ on sealed consoles like N64 to put them on display.

I would suggest crawling back to whatever padded cell you've been living in these past few years, because the fellas above are just going to keep taking the piss out of you until you fold anyway.

Yeah, I see that

Sealed AES huh? I'd say keep it to yourself, those are extremely rare to come by. I will be displaying them alright, I can't imagine anyone spend that amount of money and keep it under the bed
What I do with my collection is entirely up to me. I will wipe my ass with it if I want to.
With that said, I cherish my collections like no one else. I do have a dedicated game room, though I rarely get the time to enjoy it.
I’m not trying to prove anything to anyone, nor am I trying to convince you to sell your collection to me. I’m a relaxed collector — not obsessed.
Like any hobby, collecting can become a malady or it can be a lifelong source of enjoyment. It all depends on how you approach it.

Nobody is telling you how to spend your money, do with it as you please. But unless you have some form of fetish for abuse, you won't really get anything out of posting here.

Sales forums are pretty dead now as well compared to 25 years ago... you'll probably find it more fruitful finding a FB page that accommodates like-minded individuals.

BTW, whatever floats your boat. But the argument around here is that the real enjoyment is in the experiencing of using these machines as the maker intended not marveling at a selection of factory sealed boxes like you're some kind of new-age big-game hunter. (And that isn't game as in videogame).

I think it's possible to appreciate boxed consoles and enjoy playing the games as well. Makes more sense to me than buying expensive toys to put on a shelf anyway (no offense intended to the toy goobs, you do you) or the whole mini console/cab craze. The original box art, the packaging, etc can be pretty cool and takes me back to reverently unpacking them as an innocent young goob before girls would have sex with me.

Yes, I’ve heard that before. I don’t understand why some people think things must only be used or enjoyed according to the maker’s intention. If collecting brings you enjoyment, and it makes you feel the same excitement as actually playing the game, then that’s perfectly valid.
Saying that a “game” is only a “video game” if you physically play it is same shit as telling other people how they should spend their money. It’s like saying you shouldn’t have sex in a car because that’s not what it was originally intended for. :poop:

That's a pretty preposterous analogy in my opinion.

Who buys a car just to have sex in it? Someone may buy a car because he, or she, feels that it may advance their sexual attractiveness to a preferred partner, but I've never come across someone who just bought a car to have sex in it.

And, hey, if you want to have sex either with, or on, a games console - um, more power to you?

People wanting to spend, comparatively, large sums of money on unused games consoles to just marvel at the box on a shelf are a niche within a niche within a niche... and it is not a group of people who is particularly welcome around these parts, as I say.

Keep posting if you want - this thread is going to haunt you now, as you'll just be the guy who likes looking at (expensive) boxes on a shelf. But, you've already admitted you're into one niche form of "pleasure", so being abused by strangers on the internet for your obscure tastes is perhaps something else you get off on.

Fucked if I care either way.
