So DonPachi is the only shooter I've had for the past year or two, and I want something new to play. I'm open to a bunch of different shooters, but the following are high on my list:
Galuda 1 or 2
Ketsui
Dodonpachi
Pork
Futari Black Label
Ibara
Saidaioujou (I know, I'm dreaming)

SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!

Futari Black kits show up up on eBay from time to time. I'll bring pork when I come down this month. You can borrow it if you want.

Thanks, man! I'll probably take you up on that.

I know someone had a ton of the Another Ver. MFBL kits for under a grand a while back; is that guy still putting them up once in a while or did he exhaust his supply?

As far as I know, he's still selling them. Message yaton6262 on eBay.

That would be cool if SH3 boards could easily be converted, though there's honestly not a bad game in that bunch. I can't think of a single title there I'd want to see converted.

Since I made this post, Mike has offered to lend me Pork, and I've purchased PGM carts of Ketsui and Galuda. With that, I should be good for quite some time.

I never heard back from Yaton, oddly enough.

Where'd you get the PGM cart conversions from?

Please beware arcademodbios.
Not only does he sell games using code without permission:
Spoiler:

but his home made carts are known to have a high failure rate (not the cleanest work some may say, aka Peter North Arcade Factory?

Gotta maintain those investment values... :thevt:

The sooner we see a CV1000 multi the better ;)

You would need to sacrifice a newer (more expensive) SH3 board if there was ever a full multi solution. The later releases/PCBs used more ram (I think DFK BL onwards).

Is this a known thing...or just a thing people say because they don't like him or the work he does? I haven't seen or heard this and those conversions seem to hold their initial price well and sell very quickly when they come up.

None have "failed" - a wire came loose on one that I know of.

The work isn't the cleanest - just be careful handling it. They're fantastic for the price.

Wait. What?

I've heard many a people talk that it's been possible for quite sometime but won't be released to the masses for obvious reasons. I still think there's been some converted along the way I'm sure.

I can see it now... all the Medal Mahjong Moukari Bancho pcbs are quickly snatched up to be converted to Ibara Kuro Black Label for sale on the underground CAVE black market.

Btw, any idea what the beige vertical expansion slot and those two sets of male pin connections on the top of SH3 boards are on there for? That is something that's always had me curious. Some way to program updates into the boards...or were they possibly going to do sub-pcbs or things connected with cables?

No Uo Poko?

It's the cheapest Cave game by far and really fun, but I've gotta got say that Mushihimetama trumps it due to the general speed of the gameplay. They're both great puzzle games, though.

I wonder if cave themselves took back arcade boards and upgraded them with new revisions or black labels.

Spoiler:
they did

Most likely for jtag updating. I know my DFK pcb started out as a 1.0 but was sent back to be updated.

Thanks for the info, guys. Yeah, I grabbed two of the carts from him, and will probably grab the third when he gets back from his holiday. If a wire comes loose or something, that won't be a dealbreaker for me; I've got plenty of experience with PCB work.
