I'm looking for the 4-player X-men arcade beat em' up. Either the PCB or the PCB and cab.

Anyone wanna help solve some nostalgia?

Just to let you know, X-Men pcb's are notorious for the sound going out. I've gone through 3 of them personally. It has to do with the corrosion of caps on the sound chip.

Also, the 2P and 4P versions are the same PCB with a couple eproms swapped. So whichever you find first/cheapest can easily be converted to 4P.

PCBs with dead audio are pretty cheap. If you want tested/working audio the price is much higher and the audio may not last long anyway. I wish someone would make a replacement soundchip for the Konami 4P games...

You can't make a replacement. There is at least one custom konami chip on there so it would require salvaging this custom component and reverse engineering the whole sound chip around it. Its more realistic but infinitely difficult to replace the bad caps.

To be honest guys, those caps will last around 12 years of constant play when the board left the factory. I imagine ops only had the cab on the floor for 6-8 tops and on top of that I gamble the attract sound was off so the audio section was dormant most of the time. Pretty much depends on what board you bought, but on any note in a collector environment it should not be that stressed to the point of the caps failing.

I've heard of the 4p konami unit's sound going out, but like Mainman said its all where you get the board from.

Oh Mainman, did you ever get my PM about the Turtles in Time PCB? You can put me down for it.

I might be able to get ahold of a 4 player cab in very good shape. Make me your best offer through PMs, minus the shipping (I am in Seattle are). :)

Is the seller named "Chuck"? If so, it might take a bit of a fight to pick it up.
