I've posted about this before, I'm working on a clone of Puzzle Link in my spare time. I'm trying to learn the limits of this scripting language (eep, it's a pain in the butt).
Since my last update (which didn't get any feedback at all) I've reworked some of the game graphics, and finally managed to get the block-grouping algorithm sorted out! YAY!
[If I was doing this in JAVA, it would probably have been finished not too long ago. :P]
For the curious, here's a shot on how it looks like at the moment:
Link to screen capture
What it can do:
- screen prepopulates with 3 lines (as in the real game)
- press down fills a new line
- character moves, the target now positions itself in the right spot.
- pressing button shoots
- currently when you shoot, it'll push a pipe up and just cause the group of blocks it comes in contact to blow up.
- next step: have the blocks fall back up, cause chain reactions.
My final goal is to attempt an hommage to the original. I'd like to immitate the music and art (possibly try and get rips of the art and more or less redo them in higher-res). I pretty much suck at graphics and music, so hopefully I can get around it by copying the original's. In the end, I'd like for someone starting up the game to see the Neo-Geo Pocket start up sequence, the same-intro, pick the same options in the menus, and basically play the same game.
HOpefully this could get some more people to go out and buy the NGPC. :P
