Why still dealing with NGF?

I decided to drop by their "Information Exchange" board today just to see. I found it surprising that some people I never thought would go there, were there. I'm not judging anyone at all, people can do what they want. I just want to know why...

I have dealt with ChrisR on a trade once and everything seemed fine. He contacted me on a few items I was posting here. Despite all the negativity surrounding them, I decided to take a chance and see for myself. He was very polite, answered all my questions even why they made the corrected insert. I was assured that my carts were not in "error" so they did not change the insert. So I agreed to the trade and everything went smoothly, I was satisfied. The carts had a warranty sticker on them, which was easily removed. I was happy until the day Shawn discovered his shipment from NGF had warranty sticker in the manuals. Having not fully checked my manuals I shuddered with dread, but didnt believe that they really would do such a thing. I was wrong... My manuals were raped by this un-removable VOID warranty sticker. Which to me ruined my manual. I didnt even bother expressing my feelings to ChrisR, it was too late. They can explain away the warranty sticker issue and the insert issue all they want, but the fact is, I BELIEVE its wrong! True collectors dont want shit stuck to their highly expensive items. I dont think my manual will break any time soon, so no thanks..

When I used to collect comic books and baseball cards, etc... I always wanted the errored items. "Hey look, his baseball bat says Fuck Face", that kind of stuff is what collectors dream about.

Maybe I am on crack or something, but I would think that other collectors would not want this type of stuff on their manuals or "corrected" inserts. Please be honest with me..

The people who deal with NGF:

Do you prefer the "corrected" insert as opposed to the SNK original?

Do you approve of the warranty stickers on your manual?

Thats all I want to know. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it just doesnt make since to me. I'm not trying to start anything or trying to offend, I'm just asking some questions and telling my NGF story. I bring this up because I was recently contacted by ChrisR about another trade possibility with a cart on one of my auctions. I dont end my auctions early, because I dont think it is all that fair to the people who already bid on it. I just can't see myself dealing with a company/people where I dont agree with their buisness practices. It helps further their notion that what they are doing is accepted. Fool me once, shame on me...

thanks for being really civil with this post. for that I will give you A straight up answer on my feelings on NGF.

first off, to answer your questions. i do like thier inserts alot. but right now I can not confirm the quality of the scans because I have never had one in front of me. I will get one this week though. I prefer to have the original inserts as well as NGF's (plus the artwork from jeff, nick and the other forum members, I love thier work to. I just cant find A print shop near me <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> )
I have talked to chris and dion alot about the whole insert topic, and they did not put me down at all for wanting the original inserts as well as thiers. they suggested that i get the games from shawn or some one else and then contact them to get thier inserts.
as far as the stickers. i dont mind having them on the cart, it can be easily removed but I like the fact that it is warrented by them and SNK. I DO NOT however, want those stickers in my manuels.
which brings me to another point. NGF decided to let THE BUYERS choose if they wanted the stickers in the manuels or not after we told them how we felt. so know any one can get the manuels without the stickers.
its amazing how people OVERLOOKED this while BROWSING ngf's site, and only concentrated on the negative.

I just get angry at biased people really. I may come off like I am biased but I support everyone in the neo scene. I buy fromn shawn and support his store (although not all the prices) I am as giddy as hell waiting to get some of arcades fine products and attending thier get together here in new york, and I love the art work that the forum members have been doing for those inserts( Ijust wish some one could print them out for me <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0"> ) I first dealt with NGF to test the waters and everything went fine so I still deal with them. we have had our diferences though and I have not agreed with every thing they do. infact, I have always spoke up to them when i felt neccesary ecpecialy in defense of other people in the "scene"
the bottom line, I like ngf and all the other people i buy from. I just think the whole hate thing in this scene is played out and I try to distance my self from it. because after all, these are just games.

I appreciate the response Orpheus and honesty. I wanted to make my post flame free because that really doesnt solve anything. When I browsed NGFs page I didnt read too much of what was going on, just skimming really. I think its a positive start that they are allowing the customer a choice on the sticker issue, but I cant accept the insert changing issue. I think that should be a choice as well. I've seen their explaination, but I would still think collectors prefer the SNK original.

Every time Chris and I have talked through email he has been very polite and helpful, so I had no reason to flame anyone, just seems rude. I may not agree with some of their buisness practices, but I really dont have to. To each its own...

The subject is about video games, a piece of plastic, paper and metal. I cant see how so much hate and spite has grown out of a video game system.

I have somewhat turned away from the collector side of things. I am selling off most of my home carts for MVS titles. Not only cheaper, but obviously a lot less stressful <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> I get the games that I want to play now, not just collect. I dont know, too much trouble, so little time. Life is too short...

I'm currently dealing with NGF for an AES cart and Chris told me originally the game comes with the sticker, but I can request it and get it with out it. He explained it was incase if anything happened to the cart. He said removing it would void warranty ect.. I told Chris that's cool, if that is the case leave the sticker in I just wanted to know if it came with it. I don't care if it is in it or not, but for those reasons, sure I'll keep it in. I also think the sticker looks cool, but that is just me.

I wanted to know why people bought stuff from them with all the problems that happen. You made me a little paranoid there BB when you mentioned SAC carts. I am able to see the ROMs through the vent and can see the board through the bottom. The ROMs that I see do are not eproms and the board I can see is machined soldered. Please, I hope I didnt offend anyone, I was stating my experience and my disapointment. I dealt with Chris once and like I said, he was very polite. Thats all, I cam not condoning anything they do. Just because they dont agree with you about Neo Geo Freak doesnt mean this post should be flamed or deleted. By no means am I supporting NGF because I probably wont ever buy a cart from them, but I'm just saying people have a right to their opinion just as much as you. We are all sorry Dion screwed you but I do remember back in April all of us warning you but you still did not listen. Listen, people should not be upset because of where they buy their games for. Jeez, it's like you're making a deal with the devil or something. Fact is, if NGF didnt put stickers on the carts, games and screwed with the original inserts, they would be a very valuble resource. However, since they have ethics which most of us disagree with, they are not well respected. Fact of the matter is, regardless if you like NGF or not, these boards should be used for intelligent discussions with intelligent people. Writing a post saying "Those fucking bastards did this to me" just proves your immaturity. Sure no one likes to be screwed and I admit, I've had my fair share of shady deals, but if you really want to get back at them, dont scream and yell, hit them in the pocket book where it hurts most. Remember, simple economics: no demand = no sales = no ngf

Let me educate those of you who don't know...
All you guys who want conversions of the Metal Slug's and MOTW's,etc.
What you have to do is give them a SAC Cart being a Home Cart(sometimes 2) and the MVS title.You ship this stuff off to them and you pay for their services,etc.
Let's say you send them a NON BOOTLEGGED MVS CART. They keep your good MVS cart and put EPROMS on to your converted cart from a MVS BOOTLEGG of the same game(dirt cheap in TAIWAN) you seen RB2 go for $8.
As far as the home carts go..you don't think a Neo Geo cartridge has ever gone bad in the 11 years of Neo geo's existence?? These guys have plenty of parts to piece you together a SAC cart!! Why in the hell do you think they want to make their inserts the standard? Why do you think they want to corrupt manuals?? If they destroy original inserts and manuals people will need 'COLOR' COPIES!! NGF will stand to make a fortune burning EPROMS of different games and using BOGUS inserts and manual.If the majority of orighinal work has been destroyed who can tell what's real and what's fake anymore!!!

Hey Bear, I've noticed I can see pretty well inside my carts with a fiber optic light pushed into the gap on the bottom. Also I bet a mechanics fiber optic scope used to inspect cylinder walls, ect... could go in and allow inspection of a cart without having to open it up. What do you think? Also, what am I looking for on home carts, just jumper wires?

There is a certain person that attempted to bilk unsuspecting Neo Geo MVS fans with supposed "custom" boxes for MVS carts. The markup on this item was 2000% percent! Thats even bad for jewelry! As exposed on Neogeofreak.com, these are 50 cent U-matic cases used to hold industry standard tapes. The owner of the stock was fooled by this individual into believing he could move the 5000 boxes he had. After claiming only 500 of these boxes were "custom made" and stabbing unfortunate people for a 2000% markup, we exposed this scam. The boxes have now been reduced to $3, which is a little more pallatable, but still a 600% markup. We owe it to our fans to keep them abreast of people trying to take advantage of unsuspecting buyers.

Now, in retaliation, this person attempts to claim NGF-USA official carts are somehow fake. The explanations are laughable. On a scale of 1 to 10, this persons tech knowledge is a MINUS 5. If any of our new members need detailed explanation of anything feel free to contact me. Our established customer base understands all of this is normal jealousy, and has been attempted by people we have exposed in the past, but our new customers might need a tip.

Why would you pay $500 for RUBBISH?? I mean what you own is a ROM obtained via the internet,copied on a Eprom and installed onto the boards of your cartridge.
