Why does KOF XII suck so much? (Was "So KOF XII is delayed?")

Have they (SNKP) said that? I thought it was more so a case of them just not caring about the western market at all. The game runs fine for people in Japan with super internet and a dense population all in an area a third the size of the US. But anywhere else it just doesn't.

If they're going to release a game internationally, they need to test the netcode for all regions. It's called being responsible.

i don't know if SNKP said anything of the sort...i'm just guessing, hence the 'however they rationalize this rushjob.' i wanted to give SNKP benefit of the doubt. For a time i was actually naieve enough to think the arcade rev i've been playing for the last 6mos was just a beta...as discussed elsewhere ad nauseum the game was released incomplete (for Japan and other markets): my question is why? Not worth it to release something so half assed...for crying out loud, K' is your 15th ani mascot, AND HE DIDN'T MAKE THE GAME.

As far as super internet goes, yeah they have Fiber top to bottom from the lowliest hostel to the homestay i had while living in Japan. That isn't the issue. We have Fiber in the US now too, and Fiber to Fiber XII games play like ass in the States. The connection isn't the issue...i mean, SegaRally ran great over net-link dial up.

*the netcode is the problem*

Absolutely. And the netcode is the problem, I agree. But it's obviously not a problem for people in Japan playing other people in Japan.

That's the point. They don't seem to care about functionality outside of their country. And if this patch seriously doesn't work, then it's either that, or their programmers are just incompetent, or maybe it's both.

Regardless, I won't be buying KoF XIII on day one, assuming there even is a release of such a game considering the disaster that is the home port of XII at this point.

I know I've done MORE than my fair share of complaining about the debacle that is KOF XII, but goddammit I KNOW they could have done better with this game. This is fucking inexcusable.

Sorry to hear that. Will wait for the patch on 360 and if it's the same, I'll probably just not play the game any more as I have no one locally to play with.

What a let down if that's the case. :(

It ran fine in Japan before this patch, so if they didn't care they had no reason to work on this patch.

Some people are saying it has improved things for them.

I am like 02-60 something for my record. Either I'm the most awful KOF XII player on the planet or....I don't know.

I can't blame it on the lag because others have been able to overcome the lag to beat me. But I'm just super depressed about it. I smash the computer into pieces, but I can't do a thing against a human player

I am fucking awesome at Street Fighter 4, but I've grown to hate that game, but now I can't, for the life of me, learn how to be effective in KOF XII.

My frustrated brain wants to just write off this game as awful and quit playing it, but the fanboy in me wants to keep playing and somehow hope to get good.

I can pull off so many things in arcade mode, clean as a whistle, but I can't seem to pull off a god damn thing online. Holding the controller in my hand during online play just makes me feel retarded (not an exaggeration, I really feel mentally ill when commands that I have connected with movements turn into weird studdering and I get combo'ed)

I wouldn't let it get to you to much. Online wins don't mean anything, unless you want to increase the size of your e-Cock. It's just a game. Play it for what it's worth. There's too many rank whores online. As along as you're not receiving rage messages from assholes, it's smooth sailing.

I'd say stick to player matches for now. Don't even bother with single player. AI is pretty stupid on all 3 levels. Unfortunately, it's hard to even find people to play on player matches.

Yeah this is truth. I didnt place top 5 with my team in a 3S tourney by masturbating to online play, I spent a lot of time at AI, occasional would go to FFA, two of the best arcades in california (FFA is now transferred to Denjin Arcade imo though)

The bottom line on KOF XII, is that it would have been beautiful to put some fundamentals together with a decent online. Shit, I'd have settled for SFIV's original un-patched online to this. The bottom line is, there just isnt shit for content otherwise, so the online was the main drive for me.

This just sucks, best way to sum it up.

NeoESZ, this online is FUCKING dirty, like literally. Theres zero defense with the delay and calculations are out thewindow. I say get thee to and arcade or just return that turd. The whole game is just jump in and combo. That is not a fighting game, thats bullshit due to lag/delay its become good.

The performance of this game is FCC complaint worthy at this point.

Before the patch, me and kim did games and there was visible game breaking lag, but we were able to land legitimate combos most of the time despite it. Right now, thats like not even worth bothering with the horrible delay. One example is that Shen has two great anti air's qcfB and cC, online to even get cC, I gotta plan ahead of someones jump animation and do it based on a opponents feelings at the time. Thats virtual chess, its not reaction or a fighting game.

It seems a lot of people have been saying online is marginally better on 360 than on the PS3. I haven't played the PS3 version online though, so I'm not one to say, just seems like the consensus amongst people online.
They were wrong. You're talking about the old rumors that I disagreed with and tried to quell. Nothing new.

Haven't other people more recently stated the same thing as fact? Are you sure you're not unright?

I saw no point in arguing the point.

Doesn't really matter either way. The game's online is obviously broken regardless of what system your on... as long as you're not in east Asia at least.

Without decent online, this game is a paper weight. I've stopped playing it online since the new patch. Back to GGPO.

Had a couple OKAY matches taday, but the input lag still kills it. Especially when you go from SFIV to KOF12, it's just REALLY noticeable.

The other people were yellow.

It's playable, but just barely. I don't like playing fighting games like this. having to plan my button presses in advance just adds another layer to the strategy that I just don't want to deal with.

Also, I'm really getting destroyed at this game.

I just suck at it.

IN SFIV, I'm 1:1.

In KOF13, I'm like 1:3, maybe more.

Also, the way XII is made, shit animates WAY more then it should, so adding input delay to that really sucks, it also doesn't help that theres a million ways to time the speed and distance of your jumps either.

The lag seems like it is masked now, it looks smoother but there is still constant hiccups. They didn’t really fix anything.

What was everyone expecting exactly? To fix this problem they're going to need entirely new netcode, and that's not going to happen. Anything in the way of a patch is just going to be a band-aid. That's why we're going to have to live with geographically close matches for now until they release the next game.

You guys were dreaming if you thought the online in this was ever going to stack up against SF IV. Capcom have massive bags of cash and other IPs that will use the same code, so it's plausible that they would do whatever it took to get it working right.

It's such a shame too. This is probably the best local multi player game I've played in a long time, but it's pretty much useless to play alone. Still, inviting mates over for beer and junk food beats going down the pub.

I don't think anybody was expecting it to be as good as SFIV, but you have to remember that Capcom also put out Hyper Fighting on xbox live which has just as bad of lag as KOFXII. What doesn't make sense is at the same time, SNKP put out Fatal Fury Special which is really good online. But with their latest releases it seems like they've dropped the ball. I wish I could get my points back for MOTW. MOTW, KOF98, and KOFXII were all released within the same time frame and all are absolutely unplayable online. I think people expected the netcode to get better with time and each release, not seriously worse.

@ Wes: NAIL ON THE FUCKING HEAD!

SNKP gets one more chance...i will wait until the 360 update before going entirely bat-shit insane.

so bummed so far...even local matches are wrecked, and my connection (20Mdown, over 1M up) is dope: i live across the street from the Verizon CO, my cnxn is home-ran to my NID, and there are NO loadcoils on the span between my prem and the CO.

everything else i utilize in my life in regards to bandwidth is flawless...this game the lone exception.

ugh.
