Why does KOF XII suck so much? (Was "So KOF XII is delayed?")

Well I am, routing through a linksys. I think our match issues at this point are due to my bad connection. I am also using cable, which typically sucks for uploads. I'm gonna grab a long ethernet cable and see if anything improves. I played on a wired xbl connection, and that shit was way better for me, even before the patch.

Just for the record, the patch is out for the JPN game too.

I'd DMZ your PS3 if you go wired...my download speeds increased exponentially after I DMZ'd mine.

It's my day off so you guys'll probably see me on there. :vik:

It's not a huge pain in the ass like port forwarding. I'm not really a networking guy but was able to get it working easily.

Basically you just have to turn on DMZ on your router with an unused IP then fix that IP to the PS3 through the Network Settings menu.

I'd also turn off Media Server Connection and the info bar if you haven't already.

It's starting to sound like we were better off before the patch? I can't wait to see how this plays out on 360....

Last Xbox game I remember hearing about input lag on was Guilty Gear.

Honestly, it sounds like the input lag is used to compensate while the connection is catching up, like some kind of ghetto GGPO.

I had better results before the patch.

That about wraps it up. I'm glad they tested the patch using people who were a few blocks apart. Thanks Ignition. Thanks SNK. Fucking useless.

I cannot believe how f'd up this patch is, there is so much fucking input delay now, you might as well quit completely. You gotta literally do shit only on read ahead of schedule, its virtual chess basically.. The game was better before I think. I did the dmz shit and all, this shit is ridiculous.

If you can't anti air on reaction, forget it. The lag just isn't as choppy, but instead of showing how the game SHOULD lag, you get horrid input delay to hide it. I can't deal with putting all this blind faith forward anymore. I'm sorry, but capcoms shit runs smooth enough for jab detection, this shit is still a war to rush down with zero guard intelligence cause of that shitty ass delay, fuck this, this is a lost cause.

Wes is gonna shit his pants when he tries this patch after it hits xbl.

I can't even convey in words how frustrating this actually is, you'll literally get mowed down by garbage you can see, but do nothing about, and in term you'll play like shit to because its so frustrating. This game is a live experience only, forget online. I have also not fought a single blue connection, these are yellow connections, and they were shit.

Hit confirming is like a lost art here.

This game has become a huge cock tease for me, because its the first KOF in ages I actually cared to learn. Now its like theres nothing that can come from it, online is useless for me, my friends play SF and don't give a damn about SNK and think its a stupid company. God, there is no word for how annoying this whole process has been.

I have no hate for ignition or mad max, or any of them dudes, they've tried damn hard to resolve this mess.

after I posted this up, I just saw this on the thread over at ignition. This shit is definitely the most legit post so far, because its just like mine, and I knew DAMN sure I was right about this. Judging by this guys post, he's on the level. Good tekken players are fucking reactive machines, and he noticed that garbage right away to, so this shit is only gonna be fun if you're a total scrub, have zero timing and don't ever wanna be good on a competitive level.

This is really sad to hear. I guess the PS3 version was in a worse state than Xbox and this just made the shit worse. I've had good luck on XBL so long as I play with people who have a yellow connection. I'm mostly playing with Billkwando, but I've had plenty of other random matches that were fine with a yellow connection.

LWK, if you have access to the 360 version you should try a private room with me, Wes or Billkwando. We've had good luck so far, unless you've given up on this game. Such a shame. I'm really enjoying the engine and the overall gameplay. Brought back a lot of the fun for me in a KoF.

I've had some really great matches. Some have had some lag, but since the patch, I have enjoyed the game more than ever before. LWK maybe you're just having bad luck with who you've been playing against? Or else your connection or your opponents is still bad?

Truth. Those guys have been nothing but reverent towards SNK's fans. Good on 'em for trying their best.

The patch is not gonna work for my reaction, the way it sweeps lag to the back door for delay makes playing a lost dream.

What kind of connection do you use, and is your PS3 NAT type open or strict?

I've generally been having very good-great connection quality matches since the patch, but there have been those with input lag. This game is still not at SF4's level, but it's certainly quite playable now.

No one is saying that. They were basically the same.

It seems a lot of people have been saying online is marginally better on 360 than on the PS3. I haven't played the PS3 version online though, so I'm not one to say, just seems like the consensus amongst people online.

I'm thinking that LWK is just on a higher level of play than most of us here and is noticing input delay more than the rest of us probably would. Still waiting to see what the patch does for 360 though. Won't get my hopes up too high.

Its not even about higher levels, to even get there requires a connection without delay. The delay is so bad it really has nothing to do with things. IE; test this for yourselves guys.

Play a yellow bar game, and when picking a character tap a button rapidly to chose that character and see how bad the response is. Its like playing a 480p ps2 game on a 1080p hdtv.

yellow, blue, or red matches= same result for me: SHIT.

i love this game in the arcade, and 1/1 local comp. i may just return it for 60$ in quarters to use at the arcade if the 360 patch doesn't rectify this w/ the quickness.

MOTW xblive, BBlue, damn even FFS xblive are playable (i know XII is more resource intensive than FFS- my point is a 'throw away' dl game plays better than a full retail release).

ever try to play FallenAngels (psykyo fighter) on MAME?

XII is that jumpy online.

this is fekking hartbreaking. w/ my pre-existing and soon to be expanding family responsibilities, i needed this to be playable online as my arcade going days will soon be way less frequent.

releasing XII before all the kinks were worked out may have done more damage
than waiting and being in Tekken 6's 'shadow' or missing the IV wave or however SNKP rationalize this rush job.

i just don't buy the 'we needed monies' excuse...not with how well the funbag witchhunting DS games have sold.

*sigh*

Haha, I'm still sitting on my copy of cardfighters clash btw, a game I can't get a swap for, because SNKP and their stupid swap period ended. So I basically have that game to, which won't get play because it can't even be beaten truly since it freezes at the same spot. Game is ruined.

Sorry to hear that. Will wait for the patch on 360 and if it's the same, I'll probably just not play the game any more as I have no one locally to play with.

What a let down if that's the case. :(

Have they (SNKP) said that? I thought it was more so a case of them just not caring about the western market at all. The game runs fine for people in Japan with super internet and a dense population all in an area a third the size of the US. But anywhere else it just doesn't.
