Why does KOF XII suck so much? (Was "So KOF XII is delayed?")

After reading though this thread and other impressions I've been reading around the net I think it's best for me to wait until a price cut to pick this one up. No way I'm shelling $60 on an imcomplete game

If you LOVE KOF, you should still get this without hesitation. If you just like it, wait for a price drop or wait for the next version.

I just want another patch to fix the damn online glitches. Meet anyone with a three (blue) bar connection on the PS3 version? FREEZE. :/

I JUST got home from playing KOF XII for the first time at my friend's house. I love it! Sure it's bare bones with no presentation but in the heat of battle who fuckin cares? I was expecting just a nice looking KOF game with a tight system and that's exactly what I got. I was in fuckin beast mode with Andy Bogard all night long. Watching all of those fuckin Youtube videos payed off. Everybody got tired of playin me and ended up quitting and then we had to switch to blazblue...... the game I suck at cuz i'm a Carl player(no easy fuckin task).

Aside from the presentation I really don't have many complaints. The one that got me at first though was how lacking Clark is. I've always been primarily a Clark player in KOF since KOF 98 and to see him in such a weakened state pissed me off but I dropped his ass in favor of Robert Garcia of whom I've NEVER used in a KOF game. It didn't take me long to forget about Clark because this game is too much fun.

Andy/Robert/Ryo is my team and I haven't had this much fun playing KOF in a quite a while.

So people have actually seen others with blue bars? I'm always blue, best opponents I have seen are yellow.

Xbox 360 version, no patch available yet to download to my knowledge.

Beni, Robert, Leona ---maybe switch Leona out for Andy.

Beni is fun as fuck in this game. I love how Kyo and especially Iori don't feel like their former selves. Haha, looks like SNKP is welcoming the idea of real progress.

Guys, in like three years, you're going to be playing KOF XIV and it's going to be fucking amazing. Just buy it, urge others to, and enjoy what there is of it. Think of it as an investment.

360 update is out.

Netcode is still fucking atrocious.

I'm getting the feeling I spent $60 for practice mode.

It's becoming a coming practice with SNKP. MotW and '98 were no exception.

The patch from yesterday was supposed to update the modes in online to make friend requests easier (why it was over 772 megs is beyond me). Apparently there is a true online patch being released today that will fix the lag...? we'll see...

Early reports are that The King of Fighters XII is suffering from online play issues such as lag. According to a spokesperson for the game:

"While not all players experienced these issues, an update for the game will be available tomorrow, Tuesday, July 28th for the PlayStation 3 which should help improve the overall quality and stability of online play for everyone."

KOF XII is a multi-platform fighter, and the Xbox 360 version is getting a patch — that patch, however, has not been dated yet. It should be announced shortly.

The large 700mb+ is the updated installation of the game. If you previously installed, delete the old installation for the update. Otherwise you'll have over a gig of data you don't need.

Anyone else seem to notice blocking specials is extremely easy? More so than in past KOF's, I feel like 75% of my specials get blocked during online play, compared to almost 0% in arcade

Granted perhaps I am just not 'there' yet w/ my XII gameplay, but I can manage to block most other players specials as well. Just seems a bit too easy in my opinion

Yeah, not so much. The 360 patch hit today but no new PS3 patch did...Kotaku is just being late with news as usual.

360 patch worked for me, although they didn't add any new features in.

me, electricgrave, and decepticonzero all played lag free games in a winner stays player match room last night. sub-par connections will lag down the entire room though.

so find a good connection with someone on the boards, and then max out your friend slots so laggy fuckers cant join.

Thanks for the impressions man, sounds good.

Yeah I played it a friends place too (a borad member: izazul ) (I didn't know it would have shipped early for pre orders)

But yeah, everytime I put on a KOF i always go into VS or Practice mode ANYway so I didn't feel much is missing.

But I do feel the limited movesets, and the run-stop-hard punch/kick crap that makes rushdown awkward, other than that, this game is AWESOME in VS mode.

Yeah, I realyl like Andy from the vids, not because he was owning and beastly everywhere, i just always liked him.

I think its Ryo, Andy, Iori for my main team. Poor Clark, but i still pick him!

Shit. That's pretty bad.

I think I saw mention somewhere that they took out a difficult infinite with Ralf that's in the arcade version.

They better yank this one then to, cause its extremely probable in a real match. EXTREMELY.

I always had this love hate relationship with Andy because sometimes he'd be sweet and other times he wouldn't and his outfits just would get on my nerves at times and I always wanted him to be better. However this time, I have ZERO complaints, from the moment I saw him I new I was maining him.

But more importantly, what do you think of Ryo? I was VERY happy with Ryo. What I should have mentioned was how I was really beasting with Ryo. Everybody was cheesing the hell out of each other with Joe and that fuckin bastard knee of his and my Ryo was bringing that justice, moreso than Andy. I feel the Art of Fighting characters are near complete.

Yeah, I thought the matches last night were fairly smooth and much better than trying to join a random match.

Lag or incompleteness aside, I'm having fun with this game and that's the most important thing for me. I welcomed a restart to the series and it's far from perfect, but I'm happy with it. I'm sure it will only continue to improve.
