Why do charge moves seem so difficult in this game?

No...don't worry, you are not retarded [at least that's what your mom probably tells you...]

It seems that a whole bunch of people can't pull off the charge moves either.

Me? I can do them just fine.

I honestly don't see where the problem is...

Maybe I'm just some kind of idiot savant; who knows?

For one thing, if you are doing a back to forward charge, you can't charge it by doing downback so you can be blocking and charging at the same time, you can only do it by charging back and then forward. Its not that hard though, especially with Guile, when you get the hang of knowing how to charge with him, he becomes a freaking pain in the ass with his Sonic Booms. He can throw another one even when one is already on screen. Just remember, hold back, not downback, same thing for charging down.

thanks, that soes make sense seeing as i always like to block when i charge, but does that then severly weaken/limit the defensive to offensive capabilities of those characters who use charge?

Here's an easier way I found to do those back- front charges...
e.g Guile's sonicboom

Hold/charge back... then do a quick HCF motion like usual and a sonic boom should be out :)

As for down- up charges... e.g Terry's Rising Tackle and Guile's Somersault kick... I still have problems with those -.-;;

I guess you could try the same way with what I mentioned earlier...I've not tried yet though
So maybe charge down, then quickly do a HCU(half circle up, lol I made that up) :D

I doubt it because I do get beat by some of the good Guile players at my arcade. The same thing can be said for Vega, Balrog, and Bison also. I don't really use charge characters in the game so I can't be certain although the good players have told me on how to charge and not to do it downback, just down or back. Oh yeah, they also told me that the time to charge for the move is pretty short although they weren't sure how long it is.

Which character are you using anyway, Genocide cutter?

So thats why I could never pull of my Supers with Balrog, I was playing him the old capcom style trying to block and bust shit and it wouldn't fuckin work. Thanks alot SNKP.......

NO wonder why 'Rog isn't a killer in this one, you took away one of his greatest weapons.

The inability to charge down and back is offset by the fact that charges only take one second instead of two.

Since I'm a veteran Vega user, I've gotten used to his charge moves. They're tricky at first, but it just takes practice to get them going smoothly.

My main beef is with his Super Izuna Drop. Now if I can pull that off without a hitch I'd be all set.

Charge times have decreased from 2 seconds down to 1 second. The Capcom "cheat" does not work in this game. If you charge using down/back, you must roll the joystick to either the down or back position and then finish the move. Overall charge characters work well (I don't usually play them). Guile can keep up with a poor Ryu player with Sonic Booms, which I've never seen before.
