I'm glad to see that there are SOME here that don't like this series.

Just out of curiosity...

How many of you CvsSNK lovers have played Garou: Mark of the Wolves?

How do you feel G:MOTW stacks up to CvsSNK?

Just curious...

I hated the bastardized version of the SNK fighters. I didn't like the fact that most of the characters had moves removed and placed in "EX" versions. Only having three moves really eliminates the variety of gameplay. Look at the Capcom stable. Ryu has A Dragon Punch, B Fireball, C Hurricane kick. But when a caracter had almost twice the amount of moves (i.e. most of SNK 's stable) and half removed, the gameplay gets really awkward. And call me crazy, and stuck in my ways, but I loathe the idea of six button control for Terry, Kyo, and Mai. While I know it won't totally change it as to make the game unplayable, I wish they would either not implement it, or make the SNK fierce's CD or one button rolls. And I really hated the shitty Capcom artwork for the SNK guys. Has anyone really looked at Mai? She looks like a frickin donkey. Not sexy, donkey. (unless you find donkeys sexy, then you should not be here) It's like Capcom is working hard to capcom-ize all the SNK's they can get their hands on, trying to ruin the game, to weaken aruze, to purchase their valuable SNK subsidary.........Yes, that sounds paranoid, but look at the evidence!

I own Garou on home cart and it's WAY better than CVS in my opinion, but I still play CVS and enjoy it quite a bit as well.

I enjoyed CvS more than Capcom's Marvel vs games. Though none of these vs titles will ever reach the blissful enjoyment that is the Vampire series.

Have you got vampire chronicles. I can't find that any where.

Got it from Buy-Rite, but you might want to look elsewhere if you don't want to deal with them.

There is no evidence... what are you talking about? If Capcom was trying to ruin Aruze, why would they be working with (both copanies developed the game) SNK? You *are* paranoid...

Look at everything above! The bastardization of characters, making them incomplete, the awful character art, conforming them to capcom control standards, putting in characters like Todoh instead of more popular characters like Andy Bogard (even though he is a bastard). Inside my insane brain, it makes sense....

Good point gokusama26...

WTF is up with Todoh being in this game???

My theory is that Capcom put him in to make their characters look better. (I mean, he is probably one of SNK's worst characters EVER)

I can accept the argument some Capcom-ites make that the SF3 series is better than KOF, MOTW or LB2
(As much as I disagree with it), since SF3 has tight gameplay and great animation, ...but the CvsSNK series isn't even close to SF3.

I expect quality in games that have SNK characters in them.

If SNK had developed this as an MVS title, it would probably have been awesome.

But instead we get Todoh.... hmmmm....

My main point is that Capcom would not be working with SNK if they wanted to ruin them.

I agree that the series would have been (a little) better on MVS, but CvS is developed on Naomi, which is not the ideal 2D platform.

That's exactly why they would work with them! After over 10 years, to the best of their ability, they have not been able to out-game them. They still have their loyal fans.(SNK) If they can get rid of SNK loyalty by trashing thier characters, then that's another market they could control! MVS is a big enemy to the NAOMI, with it's large installed userbase, and comparitivly cheap games. When Capcoms new SFIII comes out on a 2000 dollar NAOMI board or CPS-3, and a new MOTW comes out a a cart costing less then half that, then that is a threat they must eliminate. Bring them down from the inside! Makes sense now huh!

What you have to say (Naomi vs. MVS) does make sense, but character "trashing" isn't going to accomplish that. Besides, taking a few specials away from characters isn't trashing them. In fact, many of the highest-ranked characters are SNK: Benimaru, King, Nako, and Yamazaki are all in the top of their respective ratios.

Back to the Naomi/MVS issue: What do you have to say about Capcom's recent interest in MVS titles?

When you look at the ways King and Yamazaki are played you'll see that they are not top-tier chaacters for their character balance. They had a few really strong moves each, and those were exploited in tournaments by a few master players.

And on the note about Capcoms interest in MVS, all I saw was one (snippet of one)article on eventgaming about the MVS board and more companies using it now that Aruze has all but abandoned it. I have seen news nowhere else about a new NEO Giga-Powered Giga Wing ( <IMG SRC="smilies/smirk.gif" border="0"> ). When I do, I'll believe it. But until I hear it in a press release from Capcom, on the Chalenger HP site, MadMans Cafe or whatever, I ain't buyin it.

I think it is insane for SNK to even consider allowing Capcom to reproduce one of their games on Capcom's system's. Their are other companies out there than them.

I have to agree with gokusama here. When I took a crack at CvS with my usual SNK characters (Kim, Kyo, and Iori) I felt totally short changed. Gameplay for these guys were totally different.. they did *not* "feel" like an SNK character at all. I felt like I was basically playing a Capcom character with "licensed" SNK moves.

Maybe I was expecting too much from this game. It doesn't feel like a real true "VS" game at all. I hope in CvS2 you'll be able to go with SNK's ABCD system, Guard Cancel CDs, Rolls, and all and be able to pit it against Capcom's own Street Fighter fighting system.

Capcom's really got to get their act together in terms of character selection. Not only that but the Capcom portraits for a majority of the SNK characters are *ugly*. SNK did a hell of a job with the portraits for the Capcom characters though! Many can notice by Chun-Li's appearance... heh heh heh.

Other companies? Who else would want to do it?

A friend of mine told me that one of the Powered Gear games was produced by Capcom about 5-6 years ago and was featured in SNK's MVS system.

Is this true?

Kinda sad the way some people feel about Capcom. This isnt the X-Files. It was the first try at pleasing both Capcom and SNK fans in one. Personally, I love both companies. And if SNK would stop producing fighters, who would YOU want to take over? Capcom is the choice, and no matter how bad you say they are, we probably wouldnt even have the Neo fighters we love if it wasnt for Capcom and good old SF2.

Mind you, I'm not telling you to love Capcom if you dont like them, or like the things they did/didnt do in CvS, but dont go all "conspiracy theory" on me.
