World Heroes series for me.

I have incredible difficulty in coming terms with the fact people liked these games that much they made four of the bastard things.

Pretty simple, it was the early 90s and pretty much any fighting game got some level of attention and quarters. That and not having to buy a whole new cab for them (unless you were buying the MVS new anyways) made them more appealing.

Lach is killing me. For love of everything holy, don't let me make another April Fools thread in the future. Horrible idea. You couldn't have used the girl with the big boobs?

The first World Heroes, at least, was a very competent SF2 substitute at the time. The series gradually petered out after that.

All video games were for children back then, but World Heroes (the first two, at least) was really kid-friendly. Big, colorful graphics with a goofy funster aesthetic.

No matter if you think the games lack substance, you can see how the games made the money.

I thought it has been established the KotM 2 doesnt play by the rules, and is therefore disqualified.

This 100% Viewpoint by far for me. After stage 3 is the stuff of nightmares. Ive watched several 1cc playthroughs of it I'm being honest not sure I could ever complete it. No matter how much time i could put into it just don't think i have the skills nor the patience. The final boss last phase alone plus stage 5 boss rush is hellish.

Kotm2 is also a favorite of mine. Unfortunately has to played completely different that it suppose to be.

The Stage 3 boss in Viewpoint can go straight to hell! That fucker is My brick wall when attempting 1CCs in the game.

The second level has a ridiculous time limit for some reason.
Magician Lord is akin to Ghouls and Ghosts, it's a precision platformer that makes you commit to every move. Just explore the levels differently every time you sit to play it and you'll find your own routes quick, that's half of the difficulty.
Did the AES version remove the timer to explore the levels?

It's amazing how many people we found to have a significant amount of difficulty with Viewpoint. The checkpoint system and diagonal scrolling caused a lot of problems for players to perceive space and move properly to avoid shots. But there are shooters on the Neo Geo that are much more difficult. Ghost Pilots is much harder to complete with one credit (without continuing). Due to the large size of the aircraft and its slow maneuverability, as well as the high number of close-together shots fired by enemies, this game is extremely difficult to complete. I found that only two western players completed it with one credit. Perhaps it isn't perceived as a difficult game because you can continue and progress with each new credit inserted.
