When did KoF2003 get censored?

I got the european PS2 release and it has (nearly) no blood. Was the japanese PS2 Version censored, too, or is it once again a special feature for the western gamers (would be strange, though, because we got 2000 and '01 uncensored)?
Or did even the MVS original lack blood?

I thought that I read somewhere that the European was less censored then the American release, That and I don't believe that the original Japanese version had much blood to begin with. If your looking to see if it has a lack of blood, the battle in my opinion with the most blood is Adel's. This should be able to tell you if its censored or not.

why bother

with all the violence in western games now, why does snk/playmore even bother with censoring 2d sprite games at all.

a little 2d blood and mai's bounce never hurt anyone.

There's not a ratings review board on the planet that's going to look at mai now days and give them any problem. I mean.. we have a game where you can stomp a hookers head into the pavement if you want now.

It will always recieve a "Teen" like rating for being a fighting game. So give it up, SNK. Mom and Dad aren't worried about your 2d fighters.

I'm a huge KOF fan. it will be fun reguardless of blood or boob, but it's always been fun to switch regions and watch mais stuff stop cold.

as far as I know, KOF 2003/2002 pack wasn't censored in the US

also, 2003 was definately missing some blood (JPN and all), I don't remember if it was completely ommitted though in all versions.

but the boobs definately bounce in my PS2 version

I also got bouncing, but the only move that draws blood seems to be one of Iori's throws wich makes me think they just forgot this one.

Is KoF XI that blood-empty, too?
