What replaced the Sony PVM/BVM in the video industry?

I believe there might be someone here that might know that.

Someone that may work on TV stations or on a movie studio.

Many PVM/BVM are being replaced by newer technology.

What technology is the new PVM/BVM?

WOW!

The 300X model is awesome. It seems they replaced Trinniton for TriMaster.

There's one on ebay for $17,000 LOL!

There are now LCD versions of the PVM and BVM (although, they are insanely expensive).
I don't know that they are better in every way than the old CRT's (the last generation of CRT PVMs and BVMs might have better picture quality in some aspects). Some of last PVMs/BVMs were also available in widescreen/ high definition models. Probably the CRTs are still being used in production work.

what do you mean by saying CRTs aren't a reference any more? is it because most consumers buy LCD tv's now? There are still a lot of people who use CRT TVs. Wouldn't LCDs only be a reference when most people have LCD TVs? Nothing is an absolute reference to what everyone else (ie, consumers) are using (unless everyone uses the same PVM LCD screen for their TV as the production company uses).
I suppose as some people have bought 1080p TVs, that becomes the reference standard that production companies are aiming for (ie, they are trying to get their material to look good on 1080p screens), even though the majority of people don't have 1080p. Anything mastered in 2K or 4K would good on a 1080p screen (or on a 720p or CRT TV).

I don't know what the scene is like in Australia or Euroland, but no one in the US uses CRTs anymore.

Yeah, a few old people might have one kicking around. And of course us retrogamers have 'em. But that obviously isn't the target market for broadcast TV or movies anymore. Even people poor as hell have some type of LCD in their home. CRTs matter no more in this respect.

If you are going to master video, you might as well target the 99.9% of the market. And right now that is LCD.
