I just picked up SS1 and Magician Lord for my AES and have been enjoying these games. My collection is up to three games and growing!

Been playing alot of Ninja Masters but now switched over to SVC. I had forgotten how good this game is, the street fighter sprites are awesome.

How far do you get on one credit and who do you use? I normally get done over by that wanker with the 2 swords in the construction site at the top of the lift. I seem to do best with Duke. Burning Fight is one of my all time favourites.

I use all 3 but Billy the most often. On one credit? On top of the train. It was a time over death taking the last life, too. Bummer.

Back to Breakers Revenge. I revisit it every so often on the rhambox. Would love to see this on xbla, to play w/ my far flung friends.

Visco Collection would rule as a ddl title, come to think of it. The rally games would be a ton of fun vs. the friendlist.

Had some out of town guests in the area. The guy and I started talking old video games and he brought up a neighbor of his in high school having a Neo Geo. I was like, really? Ain't that something. Now let me show you the real thing.

Showed the Big Red and what ensued was an hour long Metal Slug session with some great nostalgic conversations. These are the moments that make owning an arcade cab worthwhile.

Played some Fatal Fury Special last week. The XBLA version though. No way to revert to the original graphics was disappointing.

That's what it's all about right there.

You got that right. Just the other night when I had some friends over playing the cabs a friend of mine started getting all nostalgic for Die Hard Arcade. I reached in my closet and pulled out the STV and his eyes got as big as saucers. We ended up plowing through the game and going about five rounds of versus after finishing the last boss. It totally made his night, and took him back to his favorite days of the arcade age. It was a great feeling.

To me moments like that are what make this hobby worth getting into. Hell, nostalgia and good conversation are probably half the reason I collect these damn machines. It's all about going back to a time when games were simpler and still had that magic that brought droves of people to the arcades. Being able to play a game shoulder to shoulder and go back to those days, even for just a half hour playthrough of Slug, or a few rounds of your favorite fighter, is priceless.

Agreed. I just got my first cab, an SNK MVS-U4. My buddies and I have been having a blast reliving the days when we used to have an arcade in town.

On topic, I've been playing the hell out of Neo Bomberman and Strikers 1945 Plus. I've got to get more shooters. High score battles with a few friends turn into hours of fun.

still rockin the killer combo of metal slug 1 and real bout 2, I sit down and attack my score in slug1, then I fuck up and die at a place that totally destroys my score, turn slug off and take out my anger on RB2 for a credit, I can then return to metal slug with a clear head and attack that score again.

After beating KOF 94-97

I CANNOT even get close to beating God Rugal in 98. Only way I can beat him is by getting the enemy has 1/3 HP bonus thing after,

but that dont count

I'm bummed out... any tips?

I'm pretty sure I cheaped a win with rolling behind him all day and throwing. I think he was going for a fireball over and over.

I just beat fatal fury 1 for the first time in a lil while on my mvs.... man... this is totally the best terrible fighting game ever, I love this game so much.

I don't really talk shit when I say it's a terrible fighting game, this game is from that era before the science behind 2d fighting games was really figured out so it's a bad VS game, but as a single player experience the whole presentation is top notch, the music is so hype, the sprites are big and colorfull.....I never really liked this game as much as street fighter 2, but man the nostalgia hits me so much harder in this one. Over the years I've played sf2 games so seriously and frequently there is just no nostalgia there. The memories hit me like a ton of bricks when I boot up fatal fury :)

I've been messing around with Fatal Fury a bit lately. The coolest feature is being able to play 2-on-1 fights against the computer when I second player presses start during Arcade Mode. I'll agree, though, that it's pretty terrible in Vs. mode.

whoa whoa whoa, hate and fatal fury special in the same sentence? I know you specified 1 player mode but still.... fatal fury special is like the first fatal fury to be a real serious fighting game! it took the beautiful looking but terrible playing fatal fury 2 and added all the previously mentioned 2d fighting science :)

but hey not trying to argue with one of the few people to appreciate fatal fury1, I just won't resist any chance to ride on fatal fury special's glorious nuts.

Been playing Metal Slug 1 for the past week trying to record a 1cc. I just keep dying in stupid places that makes no sense. Like miss a jump over a gap in stage 3 and fall to my death. Allen O'Neil getting a lucky shot at me. Tough luck on the last boss etc.

nice nice, I do that kinda crap all the time, I will have a great run and a potential high score going, then I will miss a stupid easy jump and ruin it instantly. How long did it take you to get stage 6 down? I can make it to 6 on one credit most of the time, but god damn... I donno if I ever will figure out a good strat for this ridiculous stage :) thinking about just busting out mame and using save state just so actually eventually memorizing that stage is a more realistic posibility.

I don't think final mission is that hard. Only a couple of sections that's real tricky. The start of the bridge section and that damned helicopter once you get to shore. I've been using a save state in mame to practice those sections in mame but I still die from time to time.
