We've all seen topics asking about everyone's favorite game or system, but what is the one thing about gaming that does it for you? Whether it be a certain genre, a particular system or just collecting whatever you can find, it doesn't matter.

For me, it's the one big wrestling sim that's released each and every year. From downloading video clips like a madman to browsing through hundreds of pics, the anticipation is like a drug. Then the day of it's release finally arrives. Popping the game in almost feels surreal, but it's not. It's the real deal. That's as good as it gets for me and I wouldn't trade it for a thing.

So open your gaming soul and let us know what it is about the hobby that makes it worth every single penny you've put into it.

I have many nirvanas but one of them is Deffinitely San Francisco Rush 2049... Omg I collected all of the keys on the tracks and it took me literally a month of nonstop playing... It felt so good to get all of them afterwards and it was an awesome challenge... The keys in some of those stunt tracks were amazingly hard to get.. especially the ones in the air. But I would always get a couple of buddies and we could play that game all afternoon just finding all of the hidden caves or loops in the tracks... Great Times, Great Times :D

Fighting games is where is at for me. Big fighting game fan.
2D shooters, action/adventure, and horror do it as well.

Basically any good game that comes and I like, keeps me
coming for more.

Waiting for Metroid Prime to be released was hell.

I downloaded all the early vids and didn't miss a thing when it came to videos and news.

Then I bought it.

I took my sweet time with the game, getting absorbed in the atmosphere, music, and beatiful graphics.

I probably could have beat it easily in a week, but I choose to savor the moment and I beat it in a month and half.

My gaming nirvana is 2D fighters --especially of the SNK variety-- and modern shooters! Though i love and still play the 90's shooters often, this new breed of ultra manic shmup has be hooked like a crackwhore. Mars Matrix alone made me wanna bone my DC, but then came Ikaruga.....oh, baby.

I also mark for a good beat em up, and Viewtiful Joe more than fills that role!

If I can get 3 or 4 buddies together, I would just play Super Bomberman 1 or 2 all day/night long.

That's my favorite multiplayer game of all time. I can't stop playing it with my friends. It is probably the worst single player game ever! LOL, but get 3 or more peeps together and it is not just a game, it is a freaking experience.

Every videogame player deserves to play this multiplayer.

RPGs, 2D fighters, action games, and mech games.
Also, games from genres that I don't tend to care
much for, yet love anyway (usually due to their
atmosphere).

examples:

RPG - Xenogears, The Legend of Dragoon
2D fighters - KoF 2002, Guilty Gear X2
Action - Devil May Cry 1, Gungrave
Mech- Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner

-genre exceptions-

Racing - R4: Ridge Racer Type 4
Flight combat - Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies
Sports - SSX
Strategy: Front Mission 3

Mainly Racing Simulations....such as Netkar, Nascar Racing 2003, F1RC, etc

Nothing like racing online in a racing sim that accurately represents most aspects of the car and track.

Video of what I'm talking about :p :buttrock:

Sound and Vision.

The graphics dont have gto be a technical marvel, they just have to be done/stylized well...........

The soundtrack has to kick fucking ass too, i like a mixture of synths and rock.........so basically games like KOF 96, NiGHTS, Valis III........games were the mixture of visuals and sound make a perfect package.

Ever played a 2d fighting game with 3 friends throughout the night and the competition is tight? With nothing but snacks and and *add beverage of choice here* to sustain you.

That's my gaming nirvana. KoF and SS rule.

A good fighter! 2d, 3d doesn't matter. If the skill levels are evenly matched and the control dead on (so no missed moves due to controller error) then i'm in heaven. I guess that's why I love VF4 right now. Still it'd be even sweeter to have another human opponent. Even if I lose it'd still be great.

Blissful:
Playing MUSHA on my Genesis very loudly with the bass kicked up on level 5.

Flying through Level 4 in MS3, blasting the metal while not getting hit once.

Finishing a fight with > 75% health left with a special move and a fatality in LB or SS2

I was born an arcade fanatic, and I'll always be one.
Thus, my tastes in genres tend to always revolve around games I fell in love with in those darkened, smoky places of yesteryear.
Fighting games, side-scrolling beat-em ups, shooters, racing games. Occasionally I'll fire up an RPG or something different, but to really get my blood going, it's gotta be some kind of vintage CPS-2 fighting game, or a great racing title like F-Zero GX.

Games like Zelda and Metroid, where you can just kick back and explore. Also Tetris Attack. I can play that game for hours and not get tired of it.
