Around a hundred bucks, but I don't use PayPal very often.

I recently did a very large transaction with a member here. I got a call from PayPal today asking why I had such a large amount of money sent to me, what was I selling, why did I sell it. They also said that neither him or I were protected under their bullshit protection. Dunno why it matters now. I'm taking my bank off my profile.

What did you tell them?

Told them the truth. They told me I need to start invoicing my "customers" and staccess ding and receiving gift payments.

They also said they may remove the gift feature from my account if I keep using it.

I explained that their "protection" doesn't really help anyone - that if I sell something internationally and the guy decides he wants to say he never got it he could do a chargeback.

They insisted that I'm protected.

Really got a large line of questioning.

I know how you feel TonK i got this about six months ago after sending my mum (Of all people) £2000 as a gift well money i owed her, i got a phone call from them asking about the money sent they said that the money wasn't covered by them and blah blah blah (like i care the money was going to my mum) then they froze my account i had to get my lawyer to send a letter to them in the end to unfreeze it.

No trust in paypal anymore i just link it to my bank and send it that way now, don't keep money in there.

The most i ever had in there was about £18000 a couple of years ago

They're just pissed that they didn't get their cut from the AF3 sales. XD

Usually I have it empty and pay direct from my card but when I sold my nike mags in december for $2900, the twats held onto it for 21 days because I usually sell on the UK ebay site for international, but I figured I would have more chance selling these on the US site and forgot I never changed my email address on the US site for paypal payment.
So after the guy paid, I couldnt see the payment and then realised my mistake and that he had paid into my old email address which was no longer registered on paypal.
So after I added that email address back, my money had currently pending on it for a minimum 21 days or if I wanted access to MY money quicker, I had to send out item first...which I did, the guy received them in 8 days, left me feedback, had tracking, yet they still kept my money for 21 days....I was very pissed off and it was a very nervous time for me........now I fucking hate the way they work.

I only use it for payments and occasional sales. I've maybe had $100 at any given time. If I had more than that it'd go into checking or my scottrade account.

I prefer to use PayPal when possible for online payments, that way it's the double protection of PP and my credit card. No major transactions however, transferring out as soon as possible so I can actually use my money instead of buying other things.

Last time I had something close to a $1000 in there was when I sold an original comic art piece a few years back, and the money went straight back into my bank for bills.

I don't see how some people here have kept so much in their paypal. I was nervous as hell having $1000 in there once and transferred it out as soon as I received the payment. PP loves to control the money, freeze accounts, and there are many instances of sellers being absolved of wrongdoing, having accounts unfrozen, but still have to fight to get their money back.

PP loves to control the money there and when they take it, there is little one can do and they know it. The whole PP debit card thing is just them trying to create incentive for clients to keep their money in PP so that they always have the option of stealing it. And that's what they do a lot of times... they downright jack people for their money like a Ugandan bank, most of the time for trivial causes, sometimes for no reason at all.

Truth be told it's convenient to use them to buy and sell things, but not ever hold any money. But any very large transactions and we have to find another way to work out payment because PP is just too risky to use.

Most was $7k but that was only because it was put in my paypal account to be used with my paypal card so I could get 1.5% cash back when we used it for an autobody shop when my wife's work van needed repair. Free $105 then used it to get an iPhone4 when my old phone just went bonkers.
