What happened to rimm_rs's SSVS preorder thread?!?

Shawn has said that he didnt care about people getting together on a 6 game purchase i believe.. Just the 12 game purchase and above was the problem.

Now we are getting places but again this is not clearly laid out in the neostore. So we haven't gotten very far. Unless someone that submits a request for 12+ orders is sent a reply asking "Is this a business venture or are you a part of a group buying in for the savings" type of response. This would be very unusual as it is not customary for the seller to ask the intent of the buyer.

If theres a rule of members getting together to buy a game at a reduced price then lets see it.

I've been involved in this thread more than I expected. I have not purchased from Japan Games Now or the Neo Store as of yet. I was just someone interested in the Samurai Shodown 5 bulk purchase and want to know what the deal is. I hope that my fellow members do not look upon me in a negative manner from this point on but I can not help that. I come in peace.

It would be cool if Shawn offered a special Bulk pricing bonanza to all members provided that he meets X ammount of pre-orders for that time period. Also give the participants the option of pulling out if X amount of pre-orders was not met.

Example - Fourth of July weekend Pre-Order Special!
I will be offering Samurai Shodown V Special to the first 50 MEMBERS at a reduced price of $199 (limit 1 copy/ member). Should we not meet the 50, anyone who participated can still pre-purchase the game at $339 which is still a great savings! I will gladly give a refund for all participants should we not meet the goal.

A lot of the criticism of this fiasco deals with the person behind the thread. The question has been asked "What if it was someone other than rimms_rs?" What would you all (the ones for Shawn/against the bulk buy) be saying?

Let's say I was a big member on these threads who has a great reputation and noticing the success and satisfaction behind the MS5 bulk event, I offer the same type of thing to anyone interested. I never read any negative responses from Shawn (the only person I should be concerned with) on the previous bulk purchase so there is no reason for me to think that I should not move forward in publicly offering the same type of deal to the members, afterall the most effective way to gain a significant response for everyone is out in public rather than privately since one can not pick and choose who will be interested.

Would the same thing have happened?

Is this bulk-strategy considered a form of cheating the system/ stealing? Are there clear stipulations as to who can/can not participate in the bulk savings? Does one need to show a sellers license to get the wholesale pricing?

I really think that a lot of people are not understanding the underlying concepts.

Shawn has a pre-order of his own,he doesn't need his competitor doing another one for him,let alone openly on his site.

Look at his store and compare his prices to those of the neostore.

As much as it would be nice to purchase games from the neostore to help support this site, I can't see myself paying as much as the neostore charages over what rimm's prices are.

In one word..................... YES.

However, I have bought from the Neo Store directly. I DO beleive Shawn has the right to run his store as HE sees fit....and I don't disagree with him cancelling the thread. Consequently, this public outcry of malcontent is being displayed due to the individual in question (Ryan Smith). This is an issue that is betweeen Ryan and Shawn. Whatever Shawn decides to do is his business..and that is that.

My problem here though is this:

Businesses goals are to MAKE money.
Consumers goals are to SAVE money.

Why did no other member complain about the preorder for MS5?
Which one of you dont want to pay less for a game if possible?

For the members of the forums that have participated in this thread.....

If there was a game that you wanted ... and you had the opportunity to save a few bucks .... would you have participated in a bulk buy had the person organizing it been ANY OTHER TRUSTED MEMBER OF THIS SITE?

Now before some of you answer that ...... remember..... I have personally talked to some of you about things such as the classic art pack purchasing policy and the previous MS5 preorder that was closed earlier than expected...and I remember that the views you expressed then...are in no way coinciding with what some of you are posting in this thread.

Honestly, If I had the money available I would have gotten in on the preorder and it would have no way coerced me to buy from Ryan as I am a Euro/US Collector. However, I have bought from Ryan and Shawn in the past....and would continue to do so in the future as they are both great sellers.
