I think 97 & 2000 are the worst. I loved the story for 97 but everything else I hated, 2000 just plan sucks.

erm, kof2000 are 1 of the best actually. cool crazy combos, better than 99. none are the worst. if you play from the beginning (94) you'll know they're great and they improve by time.

'94- No team edit, Charge Bar
'95,'96- Charge bar
'98- recycled '97, feels too much like a chore to play.

All the rest rock.

99 is wak, 94 is dated, 96 was like mixed mess, 95(tight overall) & 97(kikass story) were ok. 98 is the best.
00 is just off the wall, just for fun never take it seriously.

94 was good during its prime. its only downside was not having team edit. other than that, it was good for a begining.

my fav has to be 2000 for now

my least fav has to be 95.

KOf 98 is acclaimed to be the best in the seies according to most Kof fans. Its the only year that they didn't add any new character but they added more gameplay to the existing characters, and the most fighters in the KOF series. I think 38 originals plus 12 alternate. Thats 50 Fighters!!! And its the only one that comes with a FAT moves book. So its the BEST

96 is not that good, but you know when it came out it was pretty exciting. 2000, despite its many flaws, is also pretty fun. In fact, I can't vote for a KoF on the AES as being bad when there's

KoF: Battle De Paradise.

For me, it's really funny, because I think every odd year was the worst of the KOF's.
You really can't bag '94, as it broke new ground and gave birth to the series. '95 has some shit tunes, and had the absurd damage problem. '96 came roaring back, with the awesome boss trio and some amazing music in tow. '97 was another step back, with some crap backgrounds, some featuring NO music, then '98 came along, fixed everything, added extra versions of guys plus the advanced mode, and basically rules the Earth. I hated '99 with the Strikers, and though I can't really comment on 2000 since I haven't played it, I imagine I wouldn't dig it too much because of the strikers. Keep Strikers OUT of KOF!!! Screw that Capcom VS-bullshit.

I wouldn't have put it that way, but I agree to a point, KoF2k is the worst KoF part, tho not a bad game overall.

2k has many flaws, both in programming and concepts. The strikers are ridiculous, there are many sound lags and glitches, some chara's combos have been perverted, etc.

I own the home cart, and believe me, I have played it long enough before I made my mind up about it...

Nothing beats 94, 95 and 98.

I would say '94 if I had to pick one. 95 is probably my favorite though.

95 definately. The damage is just ridiculous. Any fighting game where you can win a round with a few roundhouses is junk. If it werent for Eiji there would be no reason to play 95 at all.

Eiji is the combo master in KoF 95, and I wouldn't call it junk because of the damage system. It's a tough game. You can't win blindfolded, even if you're a master of the game, because there is a need for timing and distance that later KoFs neglect.

A lot of people who dislike KoF 96 don't like the imbalance in favor of Iori DP+A, DP+A, DP+A, scum gale... tick tick tick damage deaths.

KoF 97 had music, but there weren't team music, and only a few characters had themes, but some stages had good music/sound on their own. Bali is a good example. Also, KoF 97 had a better command set than 98.

People like 98 so much, but I hate the way commands were changed for Shermie, Mary, Chris, etc. Sure, it was more balanced, but why change commands for characters? Think I didn't like them that way? With KoF 98, I stopped playing as Mary. Just wasn't worth my time.

KoF 99 - too different.

KoF 2000 - I'm not sure what's wrong with this. Animation is bad? I don't really see it. Music sucks? Opinions. Hate Hinako and Ramon? Fair enough.

True dat. With a jump-in brawling fighting style you won't beat the game. EW already mentioned the importance of timing your attacks, which indeed is essential. That's what I like most in 95.

95 is my all-purpose cure for my three little button mashing nephews (no, not Huey, Dewey and Louie, but close enough, I can tell ya <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> )... "Aww, uncle Bo, no more KoF please, can we play some Tekken now?"

I think I'll list what I didn't like about the games because I don't think there's a KOF I would call the worst of the series.

KOF 94 - Nothing really, other than 3 select teams. If I didn't play this game, I proberly wouldn't have given this series another look. Many have said not being able to edit teams was why this game was the worst but here's something that'll make you shit on yourself. Not everyone likes team editing. My best friend thought it was cheap in KOF 95; but then again he's always looking to find a reason to bitch about KOF.

KOF 95 - The damage was high but that's not the main thing that I disliked about the game. Too many of the new moves were anti-air based; turning most of the characters into Shotclones more or less. I didn't like the dodge attack either (It's my least favorite attribute in the Fatal Fury games.). Now that I think about it they were in KOF 94 as well and were done the same way as in FF.

KOF 96 - Controls by far. Combos that still worked from KOF 95 seem harder to pull off now. The new dodge wasn't very useful until KOF 97.

KOF 97 - Only one team had a soundtrack; every other track were themes for certain characters. Rather small dislike reguardless because what character tracks and bgm was there was good enough.

KOF 98 - Same as KOF 94.

KOF 99 - Strikers. Sorry but I've never liked the assistant garbage that Capcom used in their vs games and it saddens me that SNK felt they needed to implement this into KOF. Armor mode I could've also done without.

KOF 2000 - Strikers again. At least you were restricted to how/when you could use them in KOF 99. Now it's pretty much MvC2. Armor mode last longer too. Great!

KOF 2001 - Even though I haven't played it yet:

I already see myself hating the wire system and super cancels in this one. By far the change I'm hating most is the lessening of charge moves. What the hell is wrong with variety!
