The Sega CD thread inspired me to undust mine... some of the games are still a blast to play, it's too bad Sega's CD add-on came out too late and constantly got outsold by the Duo, otherwise we probably had seen some more cool ports and exclusives like Final Fight or Lunar.

Okay, last week I've been playing...

Neo Home
KoF2k

Mega CD
Final Fight
Wolfchild
Silpheed

PS2
We Love Katamari
Castlevania: CoD

Ah well, here we go with CoD again... I guess I will complete it this time, unlike LoI that I stopped playing halfway through.

Oh, and I took a break from Residen Evil Zero this week... I suck @ old-style RE.

DS
Mario Kart DS (a little bit)
Castlvania: DoS

I bought Mario Kart and the WiFi adapter from Nintendo to play MK online. Unfortunately I also bought Castlevania at the same time. It's all I've been playing recently.

Dragon Quest VIII is digital crack

I can't wait to finish this game and get on with my life

I don't think I've invested this much time into one game since Chrono Trigger

oh, and I scored a copy of Confidential Mission after Iggy recommended it

icon14.gif

I swear he reads my mind

damn good light gun game

I might have to buy a Rev if it turns into a home for these kinds of games

last light game gun on my list:

Virtua Cop 2 on the Sega Smash Pack disc

then I'm set with DC light gun games (I heard the other 2 are horrible beyond words)

edit:

I've also been playing some Raiden III

a little slower than other vert shooters (or at least it seems so), but it has an old school feel to it (unlike Ikaruga and Cave shmups, which I like too)

Is Pulstar a prequel or a sequel to Blazing Star???.

I almost finished Ys IV The Dawn of Ys that was burned on a CD-R disc with the english patch but the game didn't burn completely and the game would have a black blank screen, that was when I was hella far almost to the end of the game. :(

It's called the prequel, but they're completely different games. Pulstar is slow, like R-type. Blazing Star is fast and hectic.

Is Pulstar a good shooter and when enemies or bosses touch your ship like in Blazing Star, can your ship reappear if you have any lives left and not like how R-Type where your ship gets hit once and blows up that you have to start over each time. I beat R-Type Delta and that game was a bitch to find brand new sealed at the mall at EBgames and it was a rare find indeed. ;)

I with that shooter games were longer like having 15 to 18 levels and maybe some ground levels where the pilot has to fight on foot. :D :)

I own these shooters,

Aero Fighters 2 (Neo Geo MVS)
Alpha Mission (NES)
Atomic Robo Kid (GEN)
Bangai O (DC)
Blazing Star (Neo Geo MVS)
Cotton 2 (SS)
Darius Twin (SNES)
Detana Twinbee Deluxe Pack (SS)
Final Zone (GEN)
Gradius (SNES)
Iridion II (GBA)
Parodius (PCE)
Philosoma (PS1)
Pop N' Twinbee (SFC)
Raycrisis (PS1)
Robotech: The Macross Saga (GBA)
R-Type (SMS)
R-Type Delta (PS1)
Silpheed: The Lost Planet (PS2)
Space Harrier II (GEN)
Spaceshot Space shooter (PS1)
Thunder Force V (PS1)
Truxton (GEN)

If you like "R-type you will love Pulstar" the game is so pattern based.

I have a scdr2+coregrafx too. :D

I just have to get another burned copy of Y's IV with the english patch. I was at the altar area where I had to beat a female boss and after I beat her she drops a shield and when I go to pick it up, then a scene shows lightning strike the two altar pillars and the angel guy is trying to sacrifice a woman and then after that the screen turns black and it doesn't load at all and I waited about 2 to 4 hours and still nothing. :crying: :(

I sent a pm to sonofx51 to send me a third copy and he said to give him about 2 weeks because he had a test or something, The game never arrived yet though. That game was so fun. Games that have a save feature inside the scdr2+coregrafx and the manuals says that you have to power on the system once every 2 weeks or you will lose your save data. :(

I haven't check the save data in about a month or two. :kekeke:

Sometimes games don't burn completely. I am sure that sonofx51 will pm me back real soon. :glee:

He fixed the speed on the burned CD-R of Y's IV, the first copy didn't work and the second copy worked until I was almost finished with the game. :( :)

What speed setting does the Super CD-Rom II unit have???. ;)

Pulstar is an endurance test, and I love every bit of it. The tricky part is to memorize the best way through a level and then stick to it down to a single pixel, that's the only way to beat the game from level four onwards. If you're not particularly fond of R-Type-ish pattern-based shmups, stay far away from Pulstar because firepower or simple reaction-based gameplay will get you nowhere. Still, the game plays very well and looks amazing even after all these years.

Blazing Star has a more flexible approach here, even tho playing it for score requires you to memorize nearly as many patterns as in Pulstar in order to reach high multiplier/charge shot combo scores. If you focus on both a 1cc run AND a good score, the game becomes increasingly difficult, not as nails-bitin' tough as some spots in Pulstar perhaps, but it sure is no walk in the park in later levels.

I simply had to lay down the game for a week or two... the signal-to-noise ratio of the weapons in RE0 is a joke compared to RE4, but that's comparing apples to oranges I guess...
