Last week I've been playing:

NGCD
KoF97

DC
Border Down

GC
RE4 (currently I'm on another test run to find out which weapon combo suits me best/yields the best results, with focus on 9mm pistols. I used to buy the Red9 and max it out to a total damage of 5, before that I used the Blacktail for 3 or 4 runs and was quite happy with it because of its quickness and firing speed.

I did another test run and kept the standard pistol, which isn't too bad I must say... it seems that you get way more fatal headshots with it but that also may turn into a drawback if you "crack open" too many mutating Ganados. The Punisher also isn't too shabby as well, the multi-hit feature (bullets go through enemies and may hit two at the same time) is not that useful tho because it's not very clever in the first place to take out larger groups of Ganados with the pistol.

Most RE4 weapon faqs I've read strongly suggest the Red9 as main 9mm pistol, but at the moment I tend towards using the Blacktail again. Red9 is nice, but quite slow and takes up a lot more inventory space with the stock.

So, my fave RE4 standard weaponry currently looks like this:

Blacktail
Striker
semi-auto Rifle w/ good scope

For speed-runs, I add the Hand Cannon and/or the Typewriter and perhaps the infinite launcher.

I've never actively used stuff like Mathilda or TMP, seems a waste of ammo to me.

What are your RE4 weapons of choice?

Xbox
Pure Pinball (my current hiscore is 146 mio. at the car-themed table (the first one))

PS2
KoF NW

I beat SotC in like two days and I'm playing Hard Mode right now. It's great game, but it's no Ico. I didn't like know they threw the whole story on your lap at the very end nor the terrible camera. Still, fighting against the Colossi is an experience unlilke others in video games and the last boss battle is just awesome.

Damn you! I went looking for NBC at the weekend and they had replaced it with KOF XI and SS Tenka.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Hard Hitter Tennis

PC

Star Wars Galaxies/NGE

Only reason I played my PS2 was my cousins came over and I couldn't play SWG while burning CD's so I powered on my PS2 for the first time in a month. I didn't even bother to bring it back to my dorm :kekeke: The big SWG update goes live tomorrow so this weekend I decided to test it since I won't get to try it live until Thursday. Pretty damn boring. Might be cancelling my subscription unless I feel guildmates are enough to keep me around.

This isn't really an issue. If a Ganado is set to "crack open" so to speak, his/her head will explode no matter where he is shot. I've seen several Plaga be revealed by shots the the chest or even knees. So go for head shots no matter what if possible. But the standard Handgun does such a small amount of damage that it's not really worth it. Same for the Punisher.

Anyway, as far as I am concerned there's no weapons needed other than a good handgun, shotgun and a rifle. For handgun the only real choices are the Red9 and the Blacktail. It comes down to whether you want to do a LOT of damage with a handgun or you want something that's more mobile and takes up less space in your inventory. But keep in mind that a maxed out Red9 does as much damage as a low level shotgun. If I remember right it maxes out at 5.0 damage whereas the Blacktail is at 3.5 maxed. But it's slow and doesn't hold nearly as many bullets. Also, always have the stock equipped. Leon holds it like a limp wristed girl otherwise.

As for shotgun, there's no reason to use anything but the Striker. But if you are starting a new game, I've heard the best way to go about it (as far as saving money) is to just stick with the shotgun you find at the beginning until you can buy the Striker. It's not that much weaker than the Riot Gun, but it's slower to move. I don't think that would be much of an issue though. But then again I also think the Riot Gun is the coolest looking shotgun so I still like to get it.

Also, get a rifle. I personally like the SAR, but the bolt action is good enough. It's also stronger when maxed I think. I just hate reloading after every shot.

To stay on topic, I've been playing RE4 on the PS2 this week. It seems harder than the GC version for some reason.

Actually, I played the Xbox demo at my friends house yesterday and it was among the worst games I've ever played. Maybe it was just because the demo was full of glitches. My friend was attacked by a zombie, he pumped about eight shotgun shells and a few handgun rounds into it and it was still alive. So he starts hitting it with his fists after he runs out of ammo and the thing was still alive. It ended up killing him just because it wouldn't die.

GBA
Gunster Super Heroes (Pretty much mastered this game by now...)

DS
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (Need to play this more, not as far as I should be.)

GC
Tales of Symphonia (Just picked this up and I'm already ten hours in -- damn is it good though, if this keeps up, this might be my favorite GC game.)

DC
Grandia II (Just about finished with it.)

It's weird to care about gaming again after a few years of not giving a damn.

Guess I just needed a break from it all.

The Red9 may have the highest overall firepower per shot of all the 9mm guns, but since the Blacktail almost fires twice as fast (when maxed out) and does 3.4 (.5?) damage after you've bought the exclusive upgrade, it seems to be the better choice... still, I used the Red9 on three runs and had fun with it, I just wish it would be more accurate (and quicker).

As for shotgun, there's no reason to use anything but the Striker. But if you are starting a new game, I've heard the best way to go about it (as far as saving money) is to just stick with the shotgun you find at the beginning until you can buy the Striker. Agreed, the striker is very cool, specially with the 100 shells exclusive upgrade.

About the Riot Gun, I thoroughly tested it in chapters 2 and 4 and really like the high turning speed. I could see myself doing another run with the RG instead of the Striker. What's more, the RG seems better on longer distances while the Striker is almost useless for mid/long-range attacks.

Speaking of ranges, one often overlooked feature of the normal shotgun is its exclusive upgrade that gives it the same damage for all shooting distances, you can really break some skulls with it in the castle, the first chapter of course and even in the castle's lava/fire room, shooting the dragon riders with it is very simple and saves you precious rifle ammo.

Also, get a rifle. I personally like the SAR, but the bolt action is good enough. It's also stronger when maxed I think. I just hate reloading after every shot.

Same here, a fully upgraded standard rifle does tops damage, but all that reloading and re-amining sucks so I mostly stick to the semi-auto as well. Killing Regeneradores in the island lab is much easier with it... my fave RE4 creatures, specially the spiked ones, they look really nasty.
