I really gotta give it up to capcom for this gem. I have been waiting for years to check it out, and my day finally came yesterday thanks to my good buddy Ven. This game is totaly unique, has characters and backgrounds that are 100% original, and plays like a dream.

The gameplay is a cross between DnD on the CPS2 and the Vampire fighting series. You can select one of 4 hero characters to fight against the 8 or so Boss characters. Everything is beautifuly animated, and super fluid. I think the coolest thing about this game is its the only capcom fighter I have seen that has fatalities in it! They're very similar to Samurai Shodown fatalities. So far I've been able to cut my opponents in 1/2 the long way, but I also know you can rip their heart out and slice their heads off.

This game is crazy hard to find, however if it pops up, don't miss out on owning it. Its currently my favorite fighter (not counting 3rd strike heheeh).

Yeah I'll be happy to post some screens tonight when I get home from the office.

Warzard is the 2nd most desirable/expensive CPS3 game. A full set generally costs about $250-$300.

I just can't belive there are only 4 playable characters though. And I didn't know it had fatalities, thats awesome.

Yeah I knew it had to be good.

The fatalities are news to me as well, can't believe no one ever mentions them.

Damn it dude, now I got to go buy the damn thing...

Over at Snk-Capcom.com there is a fatality demonstration video in the videos section. I can only do the one where you cut the opponent in 1/2 the long way, but i know you can slice off heads, and rip out their heart and then squish it in your hand (bad-ass!!)

definetly an amazing game. a travesty that it never got ported - with the amount of lesser games that get ported Capcom should have done it. fo' shame.

I have to admit,
I really have a soft spot for this game.
I've owned it for two years now and still find hidden stuff in it.
A year ago, Foreversublime spent some time trying to figure out the algorhythms for the passcodes with some success while I ran through the game.
He has since moved to the West Coast, so I decided to man-up and muscle my way to Lv 32 (the max Lv).
Turns out I missed a lot of hidden stuff along the way.
A couple of months ago, I went nuts and started playing the game a lot.
I even bought the All About and Gamest books for it.
If anyone can translate from Japanese; there is lots of juicy stuff in those books.
Thanks to the guides; I have maxed out Mukuro, and almost maxed out Leo.
I say "almost" because there are still two weapons that I need to get; the lightning-sword and what appears to be a long, two-handed sword.
That's right, on top of your normally equipped weapon, Leo can also obtain 5 secondary weapons he can switch to at any time.
There are three elemental weapons:
-Ice Sword
-Fire Sword
-Lightning Sword (why do you mock me?)
There are also two other weapons that appear to have no special properties:
-Battle Axe
-The aformentioned Longsword. (which I am missing)
The command to switch to the weapons is :qcb: and kick, I believe.
Also, they can only be obtained after you've reached a certain Lv.
The elemental ones really come in handy because different enemies are weak against different elements.

But I digress . . .
There are a few Lv Up bonuses that would've been imposible to figure out without the guides.

Yes, you can cut enemies in half vertically and horizontally.
I don't think you can decapate anyone, but you can rip hearts out; which is extremely gratifying.

I could rave about this game for a while.
It's not the best, but certainly has it's charm.
As stated above; the fact that it was not ported was a travesty.
I even emailed Capcom and suggested they put it on a compilation.
They did send a response; it was basically like "No known plans to do so in the future."

I actually saw a decapitation in footage at snk-capcom.com where they show fatalities against almost all if not all the enemy.

I just watched the vids.
When Nool (the Squid-guy) is cut in half horizontally, his head comes off.
Also, when Luan (the Harpy) is cut in half horizontally, her neck and head come off.
So yeah, I guess there are decapatations, but it's not something that will work for every enemy.
Gi Gi for example, is cut in half at the waist by the horinal cuts.
The books I mentioned are pretty complete, and show every fatality against every enemy, including the player characters.
As far as I can tell, there are vertical cuts, horizontal cuts, and ripping hearts out.
Though I admit, I haven't delved into the female characters sections yet.
I'm hoping I missed something.
Maybe the girls have some fatality I haven't seen yet.

So yeah, there are decapatations, in a way.

I am a geek.

Uh, there's only been at least THREE home versions of TS, and currently can be had for as little as $20. Warzard- None, never will be.

Been wanting to play this forever...I hope I can someday...I suppose decryption of CPS3 and subsquent emulation is really my only hope.

Glad to hear the impressions of someone else who has actually played it though, instead of yet another batch of blurry screenshots from some distant corner of the web with no other info about the game.

Oh shit I forgot I promised those screens lOL

I gotta get ontop of that. I took like 200+ screen shots w/ my cam (only like 1/8 of them were usable), but I never got to cropping and uploading them.

Maybe this weekend... i'm a busy d00d.

Extremely rewarding game. Bizarre game for the arcades... should have a home port, but in a way I'm glad it doesn't.

I refuse (as much as I can) to play it again until I get the english version, but some jerk I know has first dibs (and he probably deserves 3 of them before I should get one). ;)

I really, really hope that if Razoola ever finds a way to make phoenix version CPS3 carts, that there's a way to play Warzard in English. I've seen Red Earth kits for sale before, but the prices are insane on them. Back in 2003, I bought a 3rd Strike kit BRAND NEW for $200...I'm pretty sure they had a few Red Earth kits left too for the same price. Wish I bought one :oh_no:

Threads like this are the reason I love and hate this place. I will probably have to track this down now.

Warzard sucks. Sorry, but its true. I had waited years to play it and finally did at Shibuya Kaikan over the summer.

*There's only four playable chara, and only Makuro is any good.

*Its like "Survival Mode", you have to last on one energy bar for your entire credit.

*Every opponent is like Hulk in the Vs. series, where they don't recoil from your attacks. They just "take" them and can counter at any second, so comboing is useless. You're better off hitting a fierce attack, backing off, repeat ad nauseam...

*Its real pretty, but the animation is bland. It looks like a Playstation port.

*As far as I could tell, only Leo can do the Fatalities, and his is just a :qcf: +C attack, one of his standard Specials, so doing it is nothing fancy.

All that and its just sort of clunky, the Super system sucks, and its not much fun to play. I wanted to love this game, believe me...but there's a reason Capcom never ported this.
