Heck, I'd just like one of those cabs. Doesn't matter which one. I've always wanted to get into arcade collecting but haven't figured out a financially responsible way to do so. A cab I could just switch the board out of would be nice.

Candy/Dynamo cab wired for JAMMA. You can get Dynamos real cheap. Double Dragon is also a nice one to swap boards from, but if you ever want to play a 4+ button game you're gonna want a different cab.

No, I actually welcome it!

I love the game and im really into it.
I use to play this bitd at a 7-11, eventually I bought the cart for the Genesis and the SCD for the PC Engine. Even bought an updated version for the SONY PS2 in past few years.

Its an arcade game ill never sell from my collection either.

So...how does someone actually come across something like this? Does some old scraggly guy with a beard own the warehouse and it just happens to be some sort of arcade graveyard/gold mine? I'm curious how stuff like this works because I know places like this exist but how the heck do you set it up where you can go in and just buy a few cabs? It's probably a dumb question, I just ask because I'm new to all this stuff

Oh, and if I were to grab a cab from this mess I'd probably get that burger time for my dear old mom, she used to play the shit out of that before I was even conceived and it looks like it just needs some love

Finding warehouses is fairly tough. Ive had some major luck with them, but im also persistent.
Networking is usually the best way, but in this particular case it was different. I purchased a game with the operators sticker on it, decided to give him a call and found out he had a shitload of games. Took me almost 2 years to make my way in there. You can view videos of other warehouses ive found here:

These kind of raids go down on rare occasion nowadays:

(someone snagged a Darius in this one, I wish it was me)

You are looking at one of the old warehouses of the OP I use to work for. That was a NEACF Raid I gave them the contact info for.

Most OPs in our area lost trust in ppl that exploit them.

- Retail Shops that upcharge
- Ebay flippers
- KLOV and other forum flippers
- Craigslist

I have hooked up locals in my area and a few on this forum with:

Big Reds
Capcom Blues
Mortal Kombats
Showcase 33"
X-men
The Darius dual above for dirt cheap
classics
and a few pins

4 successful raids of hobbyists happened there. That warehouse doesn't have much left.

Normally when I hit warehouses I only cherry pick, buy stuff for my collection as well as for my friends and fellow collectors.

Here is another warehouse I found on the 5/16/2014
https://plus.google.com/photos/101103480375025638042/albums/6014141896476761009?banner=pwa

you can see that I left mainstream games and went for obscure pieces for my collection. Might not be the smartest move, but its awesome for the collection.

That Raven pin can burn in hell, seriously. (nightmares) I hope you didn't take that pos.

Some good finds though.

I kept 1 red tent and hooked up my buddy who runs a video game store here with the rest of those red tents.
They all worked too, which was awesome.

hell no!! That raven pin sucks the big one.

btw. red tents are only worth $300-$500. There was a ton of other games worth way more than those games , only picked them up for my friend.

See, I don't understand this angle at all. They have warehouses chock full of things that aren't making them any money on route either because:

the game is old/not popular/whatever
they don't know how to fix it
nowhere to put it/no time to deal with it

So what's better, $0 or more than $0? Honestly it's worse than $0 because you're actually paying for storage/not charging rent if you own the space for the privilege to make $0. If you could get "forum flipper" prices, you would. It's not rocket science to sign up for KLOV et al. Any random can post to craigslist. No one is getting exploited here.

Why not every OP is the same:
- Some do hold onto stuff, "just incase I need a part" like chassis, tube, hard to find part in their mind.
- Some actually have a certain price in their head, which most interested & experienced folks won't pay and they won't go lower.
- I don't have the time, but this stuff all adds up or it will be worth more the longer it sits here.
- Others I've come across have 2nd party road blocks, partner or family member in the way of getting rid of stuff.

I've met plenty that have come to the realization that paying for a warehouse is taxing them more with stuff just sitting there. Or the warehouse is so picked apart the rest isn't worth paying the rent. Most cases being picked apart.

I have one guy with 2 warehouses. One has his shop, most of the items are pcbs, pin parts, partial kits, marquees, etc. Other is all cabs and pins.

He just grabs xx amount of cabs/pins and brings them to the shop warehouse. Gets them in working order and sells or rents them out. Slow process on top of fixing machines on location and he puts in 60+ hrs a week overall. He just enjoys it, period.

Part of working with an OP is figuring them out and yes as exidy says being persistent but not to the point of stepping on their toes where they just won't negotiate. Why Tire kickers, non-experienced, and some flippers really turn them off.

I can go on and on with different experiences. Why some ppl in the hobby really do enjoy the hunt part of it with warehouses.

There's one right in my neighborhood. After Milford Amusement Center closed down, The Pinball Store took over and is selling off all the arcade machines inside.

Yep, I've been down there. They make all their money on pins, can be somewhat reasonable on Cabs though.

All varies on the OP and their situation, cab/pin condition, whats working/non-working or as is untested.

It's been about a year since my last warehouse. From my experiences and generalizations.

Cabs in normal wear n tear:
No/dead Monitor/no Pcbs: $50-$150
Working Monitor, no Pcbs: $150-$300
80s Solid State pins, normal wear n tear, needs full shop: $300 - $1000 (vary by title can go higher)
90s Solid State pins, normal wear n tear, needs full shop: $800 - $4000 (vary by title can go higher)

Working MVS 4-slot complete no games: $350 - $500
Mortal Kombat 1-4 Working Monitor no pcbs: $150-$450
Dynamo HS1s Working Monitor, no pcbs: $150-$300

popular classics vary.

As I said, its a generalization. There are active/retired OPs that get into hardship situations. Money, rent, building owner wants the space, death, etc. Many of the warehouses I've visited have been there for 25+ yrs.

This is what I do, it's a tough racket.
Ops are very hard to deal with, my last purchase a couple months ago took almost 18 months and he had backed out of several handshakes. In the end pretty much all he had left was a bunch of megatouches. He took his games to auction and got a fraction of what he agreed to sell them to me for. Its a shame too because his stuff was in decent shape and he was a largely a hands off guy, most of his stuff was untampered.

On this board most of the people are into Asian import machines which I don't come across at all. On Klov they're into scouring Craiglist for months on end for free or near free games and travel cross country frequently to get them. That free cab isn't really free after fuel and your time and you run the risk of them changing their minds. Also free/cheap cabs need tons of serious work usually.

Other people see that and they think games are free. I usually just sell on Ebay regionally because most local people don't fit the criteria of buying games and you never know if they aren't just scoping out the joint. I was broken into around Christmas.
