Thanks for the heads up.Mame demo files from the Kickstarter page work on the Backbit cart. These one screen platformers aren't really my thing so I haven't spent much time at all with Bang² Busters 1 so I don't have a great frame of reference for what's new. They added a directional throw which is interesting at least.

It's being handled by Storybird Studio, a French developer. The team is listed on the kickstarter page.I watched the trailer for Bang Bang Busters 2 and i gotta say that the pixel art looks really nice. I wonder if they brought some of the original Visco team who did the first Bang Bang Busters back in board...
Hey, there's a demo? Cool! I just downloaded the .neo version and it works fine on the NeoSD Pro. They didn't properly format the title or any of the info for a .neo file though.
It does have a completely new engine and character animation from the original, and from what I played it seemed promising enough. It makes sense that they would build a full new game using modern tools; I'd hate a sequel that is just a hack of the original rom. ADPCM-B music this time, which I suppose would at least be appropriate for a later Visco release. The developer is Storybird Studio, the same that did Ganryu 2.
I know I shouldn't support this kind of shit, but I pledged for the MVS release. I have no longer been buying every homebrew on the console, but this one intrigued me enough just because it's a sequel to an old Neo game. I'll take my kernow cat now please.

They hit their goal somehow. Space bunnies are go.Bang Bang Busters 2 kickstarter. Playable on Neo Geo.

What’s new in the second demo?Thought it might miss since it hung around $35k for a long while and when Kickstarters aren't fully funded pretty quickly they usually seem to wither but instead they got a last minute push.
I'm not saying definitely shenanigans but my feeling is that this is moderately far along in development anyway so they want to go forward with it if they're close enough to the funding number.

If they 'shill backed' the gap in any way, then it's whatever but comparing the numbers to some of the other recent Kickstarter games (with the qualifier that most [all?] of them are for Genesis too and B²B2 is not). It's pretty easy to see the difference in enthusiasm.
Only one I know that has missed funding so far was Sovietborgs which used Indiegogo as a platform and the dev says the game is in limbo at this point without reaching their goal.
And going back to look at this I see there is a second demo to grab.

Based on the demo it's clear that the game is already finished enough that it makes zero sense to cancel the release now. I'm sure they had friends and family and extra accounts waiting to kick in the remaining money should they fall just short.Thought it might miss since it hung around $35k for a long while and when Kickstarters aren't fully funded pretty quickly they usually seem to wither but instead they got a last minute push.

I think the Kickstarter has a second round of pledging right now until December 10, 2025, but don't quote me on that one.Based on the demo it's clear that the game is already finished enough that it makes zero sense to cancel the release now. Since they've now surpassed the goal, I can only guess there were folks on the fence that got fomo.
I know. They passed their goal. Kickstarter is basically being used to sell preorders.I think the Kickstarter has a second round of pledging right now until December 10, 2025, but don't quote me on that one.
Okay, so in the 90's this was the widespread opinion of Andro Dunos. Why buy a $500 console and pay $200 for a game with tiny Mega Drive graphics? But now that's all in the rear view mirror, and it's worth a second look.I always am surprised their is demand for these sometimes niche neo geo games having a sequel 30 years later. Like Andro Dunos 2, who is in the market for that? The first game isn't even any good.
