Virtua Fighter Evo cart question. Did they make a "US version"?

I just sold this, and thought it was US. It says "export". Did they MAKE a Us version, and if so, what would the difference be?

I was just reading about this on sega-naomi. Apparently there are three versions, Export, universal and Jap.

The universal one works on all bios's but isn't actually a US cart from my understanding.
