I just hope they show continual support for their ports on "ALL" systems. I still have an inferior copy of 5 on the PS3.

Everytime I saw this thread bumped, I get nothing but disappointed for the lack of a home port news in it. I have been waiting for ages for this shit.

Sonofbitch I saw this thread bumped and was hoping some sort of home port was announced.

Fucking Sega. Get your dicks out of your own asses and release something for the home market.

Those double bounce combos needed to get altered cuz I saw some Brad Burns combos in there that would make a Tekken 6 Bruce player blush.

And now they have more than just 3 kinds of throw escapes. I guess the other way wasn't working too well for some people.

Forget the home port. It will never happen unless sega sees some money to be made. The boat has sailed a long time ago. Both the ps3 and 360 version(even with with online after a lot people bitched about the ps3 version) never really sold well to begin with.

A home port won't be made for the same reason Capcom won't greenlight Ono's idea for a new Darkstalkers.

Not enough fan support (outside of the diehards), and not enough money to be made.

"Summer 2012 PSN/XBLA release"

Huh? Northern hemisphere summer? So they've announced it over a year ahead of time? lol.

I'm on the fence with this one. I never managed to get into VF and I'm more of a Tekken guy when it comes to 3D. If it's normal downloadable game price of $10-$15 I'll give the series a second chance.

Would help a lot if you had a partner to start with. First several sessions would be normal, but as you start experimenting different moves with your character and learn how to use them, the game becomes very addictive.

I look forward to making a new crop of players send me hate mail and rage quit with Lion all over again. I really wish it was a disc release and not DLC only (I gotta clear some space for this) but as long as it's more VF then I'm happy. I'd like it if you could import your character and stats from VF5 but since their doing this as a stand alone DLC release that'll never happen. Just hope the online is up to snuff like the last one and I'm getting this on day one.

Who the fuck runs this company now. Sega passed up a cash cow by not doing a cross over game with Namco. They don't release anything on console which does not star a played out hedgehog, where is virtual cop 3 and the house of the dead 4 for example.

I hear ya.

Well at least this will get released, maybe. A year is a long time from now.

It's hard to get excited when they announce something so far into the future.

Sega somehow manages to come up with cool original titles from time to time, but they also always end up ruining them.

I'm willing to bet Skies of Arcadia is gonna get a shitty sequel on 3DS lol

yeah I think that is unfortunately what most people will say :( I seriously can't imagine this becoming a popular game under these circumstances :( but at least I will be able to try and play the latest version, maybe even with some online play.

I am seriously looking forward to this game. To be honest, I don't think a crossover between VF and Tekken would work. At least here in the states. VF is no where near as popular as SF and/or Tekken in the states and most of the gamers today (aside from us) would either say "WTF is Virtua Fighter" and would probably crap on it because VF is in it. I talked to quite a few people up here that tried VF and they HATE this game to a T.

I agree that whoever is running Sega is running it into the ground (for no reason). There are tons of good IPs they can use, but don't... there's tons of great arcade games they can port, but don't... and then there's the fact that they were in the console market and just gave up due to all the stupid decisions they made over the years (who gives up on a console that is GOOD one year into its life?!).

Stupid idiots.

When (not if) this does poorly, they will be like "see, we told you nobody in the US cares about VF." It's not that we don't care, it's that you don't want us to care. You don't give us the material to care. Virtua Fighter blew my mind when the first two came out in the arcades. I thought it was awesome. But then VF3 sort of secretly came out, then 4.... nobody knew 4 existed. And then it all went downhill from there. Great series that never got the advertisement it deserved.

If you say the words "Virtua Fighter" to somebody today, they will remember it in the same way as Donkey Kong or Pac Man and say "huh? Oh yeah, that game from a long time ago."

We got a June 5th/6th release date! GAME ON MOTHERFUCKERS!!!

http://shoryuken.com/2012/05/14/vir...eleases-on-june-5th-and-6th-for-psn-and-xbla/
SEGA has announced the release date for Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown. The game will be released on June 5th for the PlayStation Network and June 6th for Xbox Live Arcade for $14.99 (1,200 Microsoft Points). This is definitely good news for fans waiting to get their hands on the latest version of AM2′s highly technical fighter. In addition to the game itself, SEGA will also release character customization packs for all 19 characters for $4.99 (400 MS Points) a piece. Two additional customization packs, one with nine characters worth of items and the other with ten characters worth of items, will also be available for $14.99 (1,200 MS Points) each.

New console trailer

If you watch this video you can see that there is a tutorial mode! We're back in business guys! It's go time! For this low low price and all of those free and cheap extra goodies there's no reason not to try this game out.
