Had one in my cart two minutes after launch and couldn't get through the payment. Just error, try again. Refreshed for about five minutes and gave up as I don’t really need one of these right now.

I do hope the steam machine has a pre-order system like the initial batches of the Steam Deck. Pay your five bucks to get a spot in line and when it’s your turn you can just buy one.

Wild to consider that Valve was once liquidating the steam link for $2.50 and the gen 1 controller for $5. Today scalpers are selling the gen 2 for $250.

If you've been holding on to a gen 1 you might want to cash out. I don't see this happening again:Screenshot 2026-05-05 083603.png

Yeah, I gave mine away. I had a 2015 Shield TV that had more power for decoding streams and I never really acclimated to the touch pads. (Haven't made much use of the touch-pads on the deck, for that matter.)

I wish it wouldn't Howie scream every time you plug in the USB-C though.

This doesn’t bode well for PS6 and Xbox 69420 either, though, they’re both a year+ out and both MS and Sony can leverage better deals.

So what do we think, $1200 512gb Steam Machine?

The price increase is proof that an evil quantum leaper exists.

Mine is one of the 256GB LCD systems from the first release. I've been neglecting it a bit because the efficiency and battery life on my android handhelds is usually worth having less power than the deck. Now I'm playing it again and for some reason it's feeling more premium, lol.

Yeah, I'm glad I got mine when I did, one of the old 64GB models that I immediately threw a 1 TB drive on. This upcoming pricing is so far beyond anything I would consider for a toy handheld.

If you're making the subject something other than pricing, service, and the quality of the product, you're doing the company a favor.
