I've already got a Meta 3, but the Steam Frame looks like it might be better for streaming PCVR off a laptop. Something for when you aren't in the room where the wifi router is. Looks like little to no passthrough/mixed reality capability, so I hope the price is... 300 or less?

Who knows when this will be out. Or how much it will cost.

Probably not soon. Probably less than building a new gaming PC as mine has finally gotten to the point where it's not keeping up with newer games anymore.

Obviously it would be nice to have more info, but already having a yuge Steam library made me a lil apprehensive about buying a PS5. Nintendo first-party titles excluded, there are rarely any games being released that aren't available on PC as well as consoles.

TL;DR knowing there'd be a dedicated Steambox on the horizon I probably would've held out on the PS5 until more info was available. :sweaty:

It would have been for people like me, if I hadn't already built a PC that looks suspiciously like this a couple years ago. It even as a Steam badge on it.

^ Same here, built a new gaming pc in the past couple years so will rock that for a while but the Steam Machine really looks like it will tick all the boxes for a PC TV setup.

Something like this is much more attractive than a PS5 and when it is no longer effective for gaming could still be a good media streaming box.

Looks pretty nice, but I'm gonna pass, just like I did on all the previous attempts at a PC-based console. This one definitely stands a chance of making waves though with the popularity of Steam behind it.

After using a steam deck since it launched I’m pretty convinced.

My gaming laptop is getting old and I wanted to replace it soon, but if this thing is the right price then it might be a better option for me.

I suppose the ride-or-die physical media folks (the ones who say they will stop buying consoles once they become digital-only) won't be interested. It will be interesting to see who of those folks end up biting and then backpedal like, "Well, I already have a Steam library..."

I mean at this point the other consoles are just proprietary PCs too with additional lockdown right?

But does it play Xbox games?
Is there anything on Xbox that’s not on PC anymore?
