US Release AES games question

I am doing research on the Neo Geo AES games released in the US cataloging UPC numbers and other related items. Since there is not a lot of information on what games were in the US at retail, I wanted to confirm using UPC numbers for earlier games that would have been sold in US retail stores such as Babbage's, Comp USA, KB toys, The Wiz, Lionel Kiddie City, Toys R Us and Electronics Boutique. What I found is some games based on the release date should have had UPC codes but do not so it makes me wonder how could they be sold in retail stores. It's believe some games were only released via mail-order shops like Die Hard and Japan Video Games thus no need for UPC because they went thru different distribution channels.

I have found some games have multiple bar codes (printed and sticker) and traced some of the information down. For example the first 11 releases had printed bar codes that started with the UPC code 0 218176 which is not register to SNK and never was. It's registered to Regency Developers Corp. out of Houston, TX. It appears then SNK printed a number then realize they had to have a registered code and filed for a separate US UPC number starting 7 24678 which shows registered to SNK Home Entertainment, Inc. and placed stickers on those titles to cover the other ones.

**UPDATE May 6th**

I have recently purchased an SNK Price Sheet for the August 2015 pricing period and once received I will update the list. It appears to be what was provided as an order sheet to stores.

Why not post your findings, we can try to help you further, if we can. It's easier to see it all out in front, then just a few brief statements on a post. Thanks.

Kizuna, Ultimate 11, and Double Dragon were all released in Japan, they aren't "European exclusives".

Thank you, I posted some findings. I have a few more to gather and seeing what was possibly in Babbages SKU system back then.

The original and best. Thanks John and Billy! :)

No doubt the best list going however, it does not clearly separate EURO releases from US releases. They are kind of lumped together as English. I think I have a grasp on what was released where just wanted to check off with the community to be 100%. Thanks for the replies.......... oh and wyo_vr4 shout out to the Bay Area :)

I have no idea about barcode differences but your list otherwise appears accurate :) although i believe puzzled may have been euro only

I read a few years back that Puzzled was Euro only some place but wasn't sure. I will look deeper into it

I would be surprised if you couldn't have called up SNK USA to get this.

No.
And without question.
SNK was very low key with regards to this game because of the lawsuits flying between Bullet Proof Software, Atari, & Nintendo. Tetris caused a complete mess, and Puzzled was way too similar to it. You could order Joy Joy Kid from dozens of mail order houses, but Puzzled was nowhere to be found.
In fact, I never even knew it existed until the mid 90's.
