University of Florida in Gainesville, how good is it?

Ok, my brother is going to apply for a scolarship to study one year in an American University. He can go to Miami, Gainesville, Maine or Richmond Universities. However, it seems his gonna choose the University of Florida in Gainesville. Do you know anything about it? How is life in that city?

UF is nice enough as long as he understands that outside the school, there isn't shit to do in Gainesville. It's a little hick town. Otherwise, the school is supposed to be real good.

UAB is good if he is looking to get into the medical field.

If not, UA is a good school. A severe party school , but a good school nonetheless.

Other than Miami and possibly Richmond, he might be bored.

Most of those schools are primarily college towns... So if he likes getting drunk and laid, he will be aight.

But lithy's right in that UF is the city because outside of that, Gainesville, Rosewood, and Alachua Co. in general is just one big scene from "Deliverance." So know that if he attends Florida, the city will ultimately cater to him and if he plays any sports, all the better catering-wise.

Theyre right, UF is a good school, but Gainseville is a shithole.

Hate that fucking town.

The campus is so big and sprawling that hed probably never have to actually go into the outskirts, but its still not a great place to live.

Florida, hand's down.

There's no other comparable choice on that list.

Name recognition, college experience, fun --it really has it all. I've heard nothing but good things from the graduates I've met, and it's the finest public research university in the state.

(Miami comes close, but the campus is sort of like a suburban office park and it's not a college town so much as near the fun palace that is Miami --then again, Miami really isn't for everyone)

EDIT: just to add to why I think UF is the best choice, it currently sits in the top-50 of American undergraduate universities in the baramoter that is the US News (Link). The other schools are fine and respectable, but UF is considered one of the finer public institutions (I also didn't realize Miami had climbed up, still I would give UF a slight edge). Geddon_jt's an alum, btw.

If you're refering to the above, that was undergraduate.

Ranking individual programs in an undergraduate setting isn't really worth it.
