And since the WHO is 'science', when Trump suggested it might have come from a lab, it was anti-science. So lots of tsk-tsking happened and videos were removed from YT for being virus misinformation.
Not only that, but anyone discussing the mere possibility it came from a lab got perma-banned from Twitter, Facebook, etc. No apology now, either.

I guess the take home lesson here is that if your lab mice all turn into faggots, their world is too perfect, so, give them less food and water?

It was funny watching Trump try that and get re-banned within hours. Easier for regular people if they don't mind changing their name or care about being verified or whatever it is the kids are into. Still pretty draconian, though.

Not the same thing though. One guy was constantly spewing hate speech, the others exploring theories, and many of those exploring theories weren’t doing it with an investigatorial slant, but rather a hate speech slant.

The nuance should not be ignored there.

I have referenced this experiment a few times before, talking about the illusion of utopia, ... .
This touches an important point: the definition of utopia. The author of racecar's citation probably automatically put the expression ideal world in quotation marks, simplifying the definition to a common image everybody has in mind, thus omitting a detailed one. Yet, a serious definition of Utopia is so complex, it indeed makes its concept verge on illusion. What constitutes since ancient times a major problem in philosophy, is seemingly not an issue for a swinging 60s scientist.

In my opinion the validity of Calhouns experiments hinges on the question regarding this definition. His rats were in an abstract, artificial and limited environment with no direct contact to earth's elements. Then there's the "abundance of food", which doesn't say much about variety. Take your most favorite meal and try to eat it everyday for a couple of moths to see how important it is. Further: how was the quality of the water? How do bogus periods of feeding affected the behaviour of his subjects? And so on... it all leads to question whether the environment Calhoun created was ideal at all.

So, long before we can go ahead making any possible comparisons to humans, let's make sure we really do understand rodents. What's a rat's utopia anyway? It seems that Calhoun took an infantile definition of an "ideal world" for granted and went on with it. As long as we don't have detailed informations about this definition, though, his "experiment(s)" should also wear quotation marks when referred to. Not to mention any further legitimate comparative assessments.

You are free to define a utopia. I’m sure it will be a universally agreeable utopia, as every utopic vision has been, including those presented by Thomas More’s characters in the novella titled Utopia.

How could it be a utopia? The mice didn't even have any beer, internet, or gaming systems...😂

I just really don’t enjoy drinking alcohol enough anymore to actually do it outside of a social gathering…and I don’t go to many of those.

We are witnessing the conclusion of your Flowers for Algernon event.
Yes, intelligence fading, back to my menial labor at the plastic factory, but, the ghost of what was will always haunt me, giving no peace. My last wish is that you let Mouser win the boss battle in Super Mario Bros. 2 once in awhile...

Free heroin, cocaine and meth handed out outside of the Vancouver Police Department

"We gave three-and-a-half grams of each drug."

Advocates for a safe supply of drugs handed out heroin, cocaine and methamphetamine outside the Vancouver Police Department Wednesday (July 14) afternoon.
City Councillor Jean Swanson, along with members of the Drug User Liberation Front (DULF) and the Vancouver Area Network of Drug Users (VANDU), distributed the free drugs outside the Vancouver Police Department.
The collective action demonstrates the "life-saving potential of a community-led response to the crisis of prohibition in Canada" as a necessary alternative to Vancouver's proposed model of decriminalization, explains a news release. The drugs that were handed out were tested via "FTIR spectrometry and immunoassay, and are free of fentanyl, fentanyl analogues, benzodiazepines, and other harmful adulterants."
Jeremy Kalicum, DULF organizer, tells Vancouver Is Awesome that “the crisis is unbearable and it is ridiculous that we have to put ourselves at risk to move forward with a commonsense harm reduction principle.”
The group spent roughly $3,000 on drugs and distributed it among four groups. "We gave out more than the proposed threshold limit that's in Vancouver's proposed model.

"We gave three-and-a-half grams of each drug."
Kalicum says the funds for the drugs were raised on DULF's online fundraising platform and distributed to VANDU, Tenant Overdose Response Organizers, Western Aboriginal Harm Reduction Society and Coalition of Peers Dismantling the Drug War. "Each group got ten-and-half grams of drugs total."

The group aims to raise awareness of the "deeply flawed aspects of the Vancouver Model of decriminalization," which includes the "disproportionate influence of the Vancouver Police Department, unreasonably low drug thresholds, and lack of provisions for safe supply."
Additionally, the group underscores that the proposed model risks causing "significant harm" to people who use drugs, especially those at intersecting marginalized social locations, such as people experiencing homelessness, BIPOC, and those from the LGBTQ2S* community.
The collective is rejecting Vancouver’s proposed model, for the following reasons:
  1. The proposed threshold limits in the Vancouver Model are dangerously low and don’t conform with actual patterns of drug use.
  2. The lack of an exemption for community-led compassion clubs for the distribution of safe supply.
  3. The exclusion of drug users from meaningful participation in the development of drug policy.

B.C. marks five years of opioid health emergency

April 14 marked a sobering anniversary in B.C. – five years since the overdose health emergency was proclaimed in the province.
In the past 25 years, more than 12,632 British Columbians have died of illicit drug overdoses. That’s equal to the population of the city of Terrace.
Since the 2016 emergency declaration, some 7,000 have died.
By January, an average of 5.3 people were dying daily.
B.C.'s chief coroner Lisa Lapointe said overdose is the fourth highest cause of death in the province with the average age of death being 43.

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to another area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we are the cure.

Have you ever stood and stared at it? Marveled at its beauty, its genius? Billions of people just living out their lives, oblivious. Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world, where none suffered? Where everyone would be happy? It was a disaster. No one would accept the program. Entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world. But I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through misery and suffering. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this, the peak of your civilization. I say your civilization because as soon as we started thinking for you, it really became our civilization, which is, of course, what this is all about: Evolution, Morpheus, evolution. Like the dinosaur. Look out that window. You had your time. The future is our world, Morpheus. The future is our time.

Our future.

Or perhaps it’s our present and we simply do not know it.

No, anti-science is deciding an idea must be silenced because out of the millions of people who thought it needed to at least be explored, which included many scientists and doctors, it also included one guy who you hate. That's anti-science, dipshit.

Trump merely brought American discourse to the conclusion it was already on a path to.

No one believes anyone, nothing is fact, anything from an other is propaganda. Only their side knows the truth, etc.

Perhaps he accelerated our inevitable doom. If so let’s just get the fucking apocalypse over with.

This assertion has nothing to do with any post that I have made.

I'm also not sure exactly what your straw man argument is referring to. I would be much obliged If you would kindly provide me what specifically you are talking about.
