You can't expect people to know as much as you do about ST. Besides, it gave you an opportunity to correct his misconceptions, which other people who remained silent may have harbored. Who knows.

As long as it takes to get my point accross, provided my discussion partner does not resort to low personal attacks (a bit of razzing and trash talking is okay though).

This is where I had problems with MUSOLINI in the past when his volatile temper rubbed some people the wrong way, I really hope he cuts down on the flames a little from now on... you hear me MUSOLINI?

Anyway...

Personally, I much prefer a discussion with strong contrary positions over conciliatory banter of a bunch of people with more or less the same tastes, except of course for technical/strat/combo threads. If someone makes a bold statement ("SS3 sucks compared to 4") and is able to flesh it out with more or less comprehensive arguments which do not necessarily have to to be compatible to mine, I leave it at posting my equally fleshed out opinion but mostly try to avoid attacking his tastes in games, as strange as they may seem to me.

Yeah, there are some downright stupid trolls who only want to rile others up with provocative comments or flames and it sure is a waste of time discussing with them but that is not a problem anyway because it's very easy to tell a troll from someone who may not have the best arguments in the world but at least tries to discuss or explain his points of view.

I don't expect people to know as much, but that's not what the thread was even about. I really do wish I could find that thread, because even after he was corrected on things concerning the game, he still stuck with his blanket, watered-down statements about the game that had no experience behind it to justify his retarded statements.

Bottom line, (I feel) just because somebody participates in game play discussions doesn't mean that they're anything worthwhile to the community. I don't even remember him being banned in the first place, but the guy is a grade A retard so it doesn't suprise me that he was.
