Uk Postage delays?

Hey guys...., I ordered Resident Evil 4 from NCSX on 13th Jan, and when i've told them I haven't recieved it yet, they told me that parcels from the us to the uk are now taking a lot longer, even up to a month(!!!) in transit due to supposed enhanced checking at customs..... Now, I haven't heard anything about this (I ordered KOF 94 rebout from them just after christmas and it came in less than a week.....) So are they just bsing me? Anyone else getting longer than usual delays?

Yea, its not unusual to have customs delay a package for up to a month. It depends on what their backlog of parcels is like, and wether they are in a bad mood or not.
The only way to avoid this delay is to either:

1) make sure the value of the parcel is lower than £18.
2) Use FedEx or some other super-fast shipping method.

Obviously, its impossible to get Resi 4 for less than £18, and FedEx is pricey - so in a lot of cases you'll just have to bite the bullet.

They delayed a number of my DVDpacific orders for ages - so the aint just picking on you.

Fair dues, But Ncsx never put the real price on the customs note.... its always a much lower price... Also there saying its happening to loads of their orders over the past month or so, and not just one or two....

Yea, but its still over the magical £18 barrier.
I remember way back, when I ordered MS4 they marked it down as £50. That keeps import taxes low(ish) and dosent look too suspicious as a price for such a large package, but it still gets 'caught' by customs and is therefore subject to their delays and charges.

I think NCSX and DVDpacific used to mark stuff down under the £18 barrier, but customs wised up to it and told them to straighten their act out or else.

Sucks huh.
But you will eventually get your game.

Any kind of airmail postage from the US to the UK is very dicey, in my experience. Although I've sent things to Europe many times, I've had two packages in the last couple years (one to the UK - to madmanjock, in fact), and one to France sit for months in customs or who knows where before being returned to me.

When sending from the US to the UK, I've never had a single problem with EMS or with Global Priority Mail. Both services have worked perfectly. I highly recommend avoiding basic airmail. It seems to be the slowest way possible to get a parcel to the UK.

Yes, I foolishy requested Surface mail and it never left the states

Lesson learned, EMS is the way to go
