Be thankful you now have multiple official and unofficial ways to play Truxton II today, since the only home port that game ever received back in the day was for the FM Towns Marty.

Play the Genesis version. It's "easier". I think the ports are well done for the TG-16 and Genesis.
Truxton 2 can suck my balls. Not a fan.

Does the demo still exist? I was looking for it yesterday until I noticed the posts here referring to it being on the steam page were from 2025.

It's hard to do a remake properly. You'd have to put a lot of emphasis on the iconic soundtrack of Truxton imho and at least from the demo I didn't hear that (yet?). Personally I like remakes like Bionic Commando Rearmed. It's not everyones cup of tea but they dared to experiment with the soundtrack and made it stand out. The preview for Truxton gives me the feeling they were a bit afraid to disappoint fans and now have more sound channels and options that they don't make full use of.

Played through arcade and Genesis versions of Truxton because of this thread. The music is the real star of the game. The Genesis version got the difficulty right. Are there those who exist that choose to play with the red or green weapons? The blue lightning is the only way to win.

If you like the Genesis music, I think you'll like the PC Engine music as well. I feel like Genesis got the difficulty right but PC Engine got the music right. Only bad thing is during the game the bass cuts out while shooting, but it's a great rendition of the OST overall:
