With all the news and thread-mania regarding SS Tenka, I felt like this would be a good time to shed some light on some stuff that's been weighing on my mind for quite some time now regarding SS and SSII, but first let's have some fun with the usual Engrish 101...

We all have come to know and love the various broken dialogue in SSII that gave us gems such as this:

...but there's some interesting tidbits to be found when playing under the original Japanese setting as well, specifically with our favorite American ninja:

...which leads me to my question. Back when I first got SS, it was the CD version and my NEOCD at the time was a Japanese model which meant that by default I was playing the game in Japanese. This was fine since it meant enjoying the game without the "sweat" problem in the US version, but I also noticed an in-game quote that I found quite curious:

So I'd love it if one of our resident Nihongo speakers could please satisfy my raging curiosity as to what in the hell ol' Galford is saying here? Pwetty pwease? (Beelze? Anyone? Beuller?)
:help:

...and just so this thread doesn't seem too self-serving, all are welcome to post any other musings, observations, and favorite examples of our beloved Engrish from any of the SS titles so as to keep this thread amusing enough for everyone else. After all, if we can have interesting threads about the alien in Gen-An's pot and even some SSRPG love recently, why not this eh?

I had no problem witht he japanese part - but "pierce to sting!" Does that sound better in Japanese, or were they just retarded when they made that up?

The funny thing is, all this time I kept thinking "I'm sure if I ever figure out what the rest of this quote is, that whole PIERCE TO STING stuff will finally make sense". Guess not...
:kekeke:

Still, I can always look to Galford for some amusing American Ninja Engrish embedded in the Japanese dialogue...in SSII, there's another quote I remember where he says:

"Everyone need love. Do you know that it's true?"

Face it, the man has the heart of a poet...
