Got the new HD Tomba for Switch. I was pretty excited to play this often overlooked gem. I played it a bit back in the PSX days but never beat it. Low and behold I'm able play it for five or six seconds and it crashes my Switch like it got an Awesome bomb through a flaming table. I had to Hard reset the Switch. Perplexed, I did a little research. Apparently the Switch version has a random chance of Crashing your Switch and Limited Run Games knows about it. It's been out for months and they still have not patched it. I'm sure glad I spent $20.00 on a broken, unplayable game with no chance of refund or a fix anywhere on the horizon.

Well damn i all most did preorder it for switch but i went with the PS5 version instead. The tomba remaster runs on the carbon engine so i guess it's not flawless if it crashes the switch version of tomba.

That's too bad. I haven't encountered any issues on the steam version (on Steamdeck.)

A hard crash on a physical disc though? Did they even play test on real hardware? Probably not.

I had a similar problem last week when I wanted to play Remnant 2 on Xbox Series X. The devs pushed a patch at some point which made the game actually unplayable. The game crashes on the load screen and if you can load your game it just hangs on load and then crashes. Welcome to the future?

Is it a code problem or a print problem? because LRG product quality is a dumpster fire right now.
These physical releases are months after digital release in order to capture patches and minor DLC so this shouldnt happen, which makes me think this is a product quality issue.

Definitely a code problem.

A game on physical media rendered unplayable without a patch is absurd. That’s refund level shit. What’s LRG said about the issue?

Makes me miss the days of better quality control and when a cartridge was released, it was a final product.

They're being radio silent. I may call Nintendo and see what they can do.

Exactly, play the 97 original and not any remakes or hobbled re-releases.

At the used price it’s currently going for, I’d pass. Plus I’d have to get a PSX. Not worth it.

Fortunately the Steam version works.

Probably should have just got the rom lol.

Or stop being a rube and get an ISO and run it on a chipped PSX or just use a newer hacked console.

If you need HDMI, why not hack a PS3 and play the original Tomba on that?

I like how you suggest getting the iso when I just said I “probably should have just got the rom.”

Brother I haven’t had a PSX in 15+ years and I for sure threw my PS3 in the dumpster at least 5 years ago.

Well have fun with your broken official software and your subscriptions. Man, Rent-A-ROM, just what we've always needed.

Update. After getting the run around from LRG for a month, I contacted Nintendo. They immediately refunded me and all is well. They need to pull that game from the eshop asap. It's been 4 months since this issue was known and LRG just acts like it's not even happening.

FWIW, I'm 6-8 hours into the game and haven't hit any crashes. Any chance you're playing offline and missing the current patch?
