Oh well, a new 2D Samurai Shodown is still welcome. If the graphics wind up getting the Last Blade treatment, I hope it still retains the speed and feel of the Samurai Shodown series. Personalized backgrounds are overdue as well. Maybe we can get those this time out too.

Genjuro is awesome! He's the best arch nemesis there is! He's way stronger than Haohmaru and he has the skill to kill him. He's a psycho, but he still has a sense of honour (Look at the SS2 ending, he could've killed Haohmaru when he was weak, but he didn't)

Anyways, about the MOTW treatment... Um, didn't SNK already try this in SS3? I mean ditching previous characters and adding in new ones that are somewhat related to the old? Then fans got all pissed and they had to add the lost characters back in SS4?

Well, anyways, I guess this is the second time around where they're adding a new cast.

It would be cool if they could have a new cast and add in only a few characters from Warriors Rage/64.

I think we're all overreacting to this a bit. I mean when they said expect the return Hanzo, Genjuro, and Haohmaru. I think it just implied that only the most popular characters would make it, so Ukyo will be in there, etc. Hell Nakoruru is the overall most popular fighting game character in Japan practically so it's not like she won't be in it.

They should put in Galford (since his sprite is considerably similar to Hanzo.. and they are Ninjas), Ukyo, Nakoruru, Charlotte & Jubei should make the cut... but anyway, I'm sure excited about this!

I understand that after SNK clears it debts, they can re-enter the market and produce games. That being said, do you think there will be a U.S. home release of SamSho 5, or do you all think it will be Japanese home and MVS only? Also, if SNK does come back to the west and produces games....well...that will most likely be the end of NGF. I'm sensing a pseudo religious trend here. Well this is a godsend, SS series was always my favorite. i hope they keep most of them! and to make it even better they should give each char. their own background. bring back the REF! and chicken tosser. and we can't forget slicing them in half to get the gold. these are things that made this series so great and unforgetable. i'm glad they kept Haohmaru and Genjuro in, but the one they should bring back is Gen-AN. Oh one other one that i really miss is WAN-FU. all in all i hope they can balance out the characters like they did in 2 and not new ones that don't fit in for the series. they probably could of kept everyone in plus new characters and backgrounds with the newer gig carts! will have to wait and see. hupplark_39

Yeah Nick you're right. I forgot Genan got fried by Mai in SS1. LOL! Ukyo and Nakoruru died in SS2. Basara (Again?) and Amakusa (???) died in SS4. Ukyo also dies in SS64II.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think 2D versions of the 3D games would kick butt.

Well I just tried to go to nakoruru64.virtuaslave.net where you can get the endings for SS64II put the page doesnt open.I think its down or something.

YELDELL GW,ukyo did not die in SS2.Thats a big misconseption samurai shodown fans have due to the fact most havent played the 3-d titles.Ukyo is in all the sequals after part 2 thus didnt die in 2 thus his ending in 2 didnt happen.Unlike nakoruru,ukyo has no power to reincarnate himself.

long before any of the magazines did back in the day. Ask anyone who used to read my old rag, Neo Enthusiast, and they can tell you that I had a nack for getting the scoop on many things. I printed information about Metal Slug 1 months before EGM even knew it existed. Its safe to say that I'm not one to gossip, even though you're making me out to be someone who does.

Proof? Hmmm.... I told evenryone here that KOF2K1 would be coming to Neo-Geo, but everyone ignored me. Funny.... KOF2K1 will be released at the end of the year, no? Gee, I wonder.... Oh wait, you want 'real' proof. What proof does MadCafe and MagicBox have when they print information about Neo-Geo? I recall one of the above sites writing an article about the NeoStar claiming that it was a reality.... where is that system anyway?

Actually I hate to tell you, but Genjuro dies in the end of SS64II by being stabbed in the back by a little boy. I don't think you would consider that dying well.

Here is the ending:

The time for duel has come.
Genjuro's sword rebounds off of Haohmaru's sword and then raises up.
Baiohdoku (his sword’s name) emits light.
Genjuro:"Haohmaru, I gonna kill you!! When he turns around, a boy stands, stabbing Genjuro’s back with a short sword.
Boy:"You did this to my father...."
The consciousness is indistinct. The wound on Genjuro's back gets widens, in the spray of blood that dyes his body, Genjuro sees his mother.
During the setting of the sun, Genjuro leans on Haohmaru’s shoulder, and comes down on a stone step.
Genjuro grumbles:"...I want to drink Sake....
Haohmaru:"...Let's drink tonight...
The setting sun seems to show Haohmaru’s eyes with tears in them.
Genjuro:"....You fool...."
Genjuro smiles and gradually closes his eyes.
