Asking for games from other platforms, like people asking for KOF2K2UM... I don't think they realize how big of an ask that is. The original code is probably lost, for one thing. Are you asking for someone to decompile KOF2K2 for Neo Geo and then start adding things? I mean, how?

I get what you mean and of course I’m not expecting to see any of this happening anytime soon or at all.

My example of KOF2000 was just due to the fact that indeed it already exist an NCI/Bootleg version called KOF2000: Strikers Edition which borrows the PS2 additions and reintegrate them into the main game.

Then of course licensing and stuff might make these kind of stunts impossible, but yea :)

I’m assuming all roughly 110 ACA releases (Pop’n Bounce and Master of Syougi being the most recent) could be on the table, but I wonder what rom versions will ultimately be released for the AES+.

More modern releases of Art of Fighting 2, Super Side Kicks 2 & 3, Neo Geo Cup 98, and Ultimate 11 in particular have all received edits. Real Bout Fatal Fury was also censored on the PS2 Battle Archives release (and by extension, the digital version of that collection currently on PSN), though the ACA version of Real Bout is good and lacks the censorship found in Battle Archives 2.

It will be interesting to see the differences from the original cart releases and these potential newly revised re-releases. On one hand, games like Samurai Shodown V Special could be fixed and uncensored versions, while AOF2 and the sports games mentioned above could be altered from the content found on their original release.

I’m very curious to see how the library for this turns out.

That one might be tricky. Separate from any potential issues with Capcom (although admittedly, there may be no issues on that front), who knows what kind of "physical" rights Limited Run and Pixnlove got when they did that game for modern systems. It's possible those deals prevent any other physical releases of the game for a while.
Capcom released their versions again through the anniversary bundle so maybe there’s some hope tbh

I am seeing brand new Neo Geo games at Pixel Heart (new indie titles), which are selling for 300-400 Euro. Are these so expensive because they are really expensive to make or just "to continue the tradition"? If its the former I wonder if they could team up with Plaion and use whatever tech they have to make cheap AES titles. Then everybody wins.

Yeah, they should do that. Right now Pixelheart can't expect anywhere near the sales of the Plaion stuff, so they charge a premium for their niche product.

Not that it's likely to happen, but SNK could convert quite a bit of their non-Neo arcade titles over. Something that they should have done back in the day to fill out their library. As an example, IQ_132 did a great job with P.O.W.
In that case I would opt for Ikari Warriors and TNK III, mebbe with a gooby rotary controller add-on. :)

Yea the PEGI/CERO whatever rating is super lame on the inserts, fingers crossed even a reversible insert without rating would do, but unlikely they will go to that extent

It indeed is, but I guess that if really they want to go to the extent of printing a double sided insert, it should be fine to have it printed only on the front facing side. But yea just my thought without really knowing the legal implications

Nothing stopping you from getting custom inserts from someplace like South Town homebrew.

I like the age ratings because they make it quick and easy to distinguish a new one from the original.

Well from that point of view then, yes. That’s a very valid point.

But I honestly doubt you would even mistake an original cart from a re-release just by looking at them regardless of the age ratings :ROFLMAO:

I'm not very observant, and I don't know what kind of fan inserts all you goobs made compared to the originals, so I prefer to have a shortcut to immediately identify them when I'm scrolling through online.
