So tied to the thread on one of the other parts of the board regarding editing privileges. I figured I should ask if I can have marketplace access?

I see more and more new faces in the market, not sure but it feels asthough is a free for all out there. Isn't there a way to make it a general rule to have at least 100 posts before even PM priviledges and then another 100 on top of that before gaining access to the market place? Seems only fair, not too much to ask, also any post with less than 20 words doesn't count, making folks actually participate as opposed to the feeble posts we get from new members like "OMG nice collection!" who needs that?!

imagine if that were the case with the shmup forums too - another gaming-based niche hobby website - it'd be kinda nice. someone might not have been able to nab a mushi board ;)

nah, I don't have the cash or desire for mushi - wanted to see what garegga was going for and always wanted to own a bakraid board... tho if I ever nabbed another board, it'd prob be ketsui. noticed your post/remembered this thread and just thought it was a tad ironic. tbh I'd rather it go to to you (someone who will actually play it) than any kinda flipper/collector.

Yeah, Ultra is obscene. Maniac is no walk in the park mind you, I'm sure is doable but I'm gonna need some serious dedication to clear it. I'm not as good as I'd like to be.

Maniac seems daunting at first, but it becomes very manageable after 12-15 runs. I hit stage 5 pretty regular and can clear OG. Ultra is just silly hard. I've made it to stage 2 boss and consider it my greatest shmup accomplishment.

So I've been fucking around with Ultra and funny enough I remember it being a lot harder on the PS2 and 360...less bullets on the screen on the PCB, am I wrong on this? I have to go back and check them ports again, I know for a fact that the mobile ports have more bullets.

APPARENTLY.... n00bs can post within the market forums.. but not make threads and send PM's...

I am tempted to change this for a more Draconian view of life..:D

PS. Somewhere along the lines of a Rotesque Pol Pot regime... for teh n00bs...

Prepare the killing fields for the Rhot Rouge troops... that's an extreme thought. Nuked accounts, flames of flaming all over the selling threads and seemingly out of nowhere, an eerie laughter echoing and reechoing. Imagine then, how dearly young market users would recall VT. Mercifully, it's likely to become a necessity.

There maybe a market purge... mark 2... I have noticed some folks who exclusively view the market forums... (I'm pretty sad like that...)

BUT AS A SWEETENER... i am now open and willing to let members back on who promise me PERSONALLY... that they will play ball and contribute more...

PLEASE as a favour to me lads... ask the guys that were in the LAST PURGE to post in this thread... and i will ask for a guarantee of behaviour... THEN i will release they're account...

xROTx

PS. Let's get this ball rolling... I'm releasing jdh...

EXTRA EDIT: They may also come into chat...

Wasn't that the original point though, start contributing more and you will have your market access re-evaluated. Take this jdh guy, he has only posted once in the last year, in the Crossed Swords II thread. 23 posts in 13 years.

These restricted accounts have had months of time to post and yet they don't, because they simply do not care enough to do so. There are a few who maybe did take it to heart and started posting more and should be looked at again for access.

But why give access back to accounts that have shown no desire to participate?

Sweet, I was wanting to PM jdh but was unable to before. It's good you are giving people chances as I think a lot of people don't even know about this rule as this is the only place I've ever seen it and until this year it was rarely enforced aside from extreme cases. I was gone for a while so I was unaware of what happened six months or so back when this all came about until recently.

I totally get why this old rule has just recently started being put into action. It eliminates flippers snatching up good deals from decent members, eliminates most scammers etc. The one sad part is that it also eliminates a ton of positive action on the selling forums so it punishes the community as a whole. A lot of people including myself built their entire collection through members on this site who maybe didn't post a lot outside of selling but offered good deals and rarities to the community here first, chimed in from time to time in other areas still and you never had to worry about dumb shenanigans as you would outside of here like a seller shipping your mint kit using the kit box as the shipping box! I consider these people as contributions to the community. Now after the blanket ban it would be near impossible to build up a decent kit or AES collection through the marketplace in any decent amount of time which is kind of sad to me. My last time being active on the forums was around a year ago and I just recently came back. Back then there was so much being offered and now it feels like tumbleweeds are rolling by in the Neo Selling sector. I enjoyed dealing with people here exclusively and keeping it all in the community so to speak but now I see my self *gulp* browsing Ebay from time to time.

Anyway it is what it is. I just hope to see some oldies alongside jdh start coming back one by one as well in the future so it's awesome you are looking into people's cases etc. as that's how it should be done!

Things will get back in order!

I meant no offense by this post by the way, just expressing my opinion!

The purge was a double-edged sword. Flipping and drive-by scooping is down but some good but otherwise inactive sellers got caught in the crossfire, and casual/new members are hesitant to list stuff now.

You know what happened after the last "Chat war"?... I sat there... alone for about 6 months...

...I was always there... available...

Chat is like the forum... it takes time to build up... then it takes care of itself...

You see where I'm coming from here?

xROTx

PS. SURE.. it's quiet at the weekend... BUT it usually is... all you NEED to know... is chat... the forum... and myself and the lads will be here...

Build it... and they will come...
