You probably have a lot of questions. I'm here to answer them for you.
You probably don't understand why this has happened. You probably have no idea why you suddenly can't PM or see that sales thread you started.
This came as a shock and you're angry. YOU WERE SELLING AND BUYING STUFF HERE!
That, my friend, is exactly why this was done to you.
The rules haven't changed in years.
http://www.neo-geo.com/forums/showthread.php?183093-MARKET-RULES
The market rules clearly state our expectation of your behavior in this community.
Simply put, you have been identified by the site and its membership as someone who has chosen to disregard this long standing rule. This wasn't changed overnight, it was not enforced. Recent events and the behavior of people just like yourself has necessitated this action.
Why was I banned?
You haven't been banned. The marketplace is a privilege and one we take seriously. You retain the ability to participate in the community and forums. When you do so in a sustained manner, you privileges will be restored.
When is that going to happen?
When you actively contribute to the site. We do not consider peddling your wares here "contributing." We do not consider you strictly buying items or asking questions in the tech forum "contributing." You're not doing us a favor; giving you access to an established user base of active traders and technical help is doing YOU a favor.
There is no post count limit, there is not a set bar for triggering your access. It will be determined on a case-by-case basis. 100 posts of "awesome collection!" or "I agree!" isn't going to make the cut.
Quality over quantity.
This is unfair!
People like yourself are what made this necessary. You have YOUR OWN SITE, drive traffic to it SOMEWHERE ELSE, pay for your OWN bandwidth and hosting fees and charge WHATEVER YOU WANT! It's easy!
The reason you are here is that it will cost you nothing to post, we have far more traffic than you do and you have to make no effort to get an audience.
The fact remains that the rules on this are clear and have been for some time. You are not entitled to the market here. Go to ebay, yahoo or your own site. There are no free rides anymore. You come here to avoid selling fees or taxes.
Pay your ebay fees or find another bandwidth sucker.
Why now?
If you want to blame this on anyone, blame it on the recent glut of scams, pricejacking or flippers who have become a cancer.
Most of these problem members, scammers and sponges fit a certain profile. Several of these items apply to them:
1. "long time member" but has years of public inactivity
2. Contributes nothing to the site socially
3. No ties to here, hence no reputation to worry about
4. Has made questionable decision on hardware and sales
5. Only lurks in the market
6. First to post in giveaway, free stuff threads or raffles
7. Buys/sells things frequently, mostly at profit (flipper)
8. Active for a short time, then only posts in the market
9. Insulting or dismissive of the forum regulars when questioned about rules, prices or expectations of sellers
10. Demands +4% or Paypal gift on transactions with little reputation to stand on
11. Buys at "community prices", sells at "ebay prices"
12. Runs multiple accounts to hide market activity
Hey! Seller X is (insert statement here) and he hasn't been disciplined...
If that is your first reaction, reconsider your membership. If that person is still here and you are not, we have not disciplined them, they have contributed to the site and community in a meaningful way. The have earned a reputation as a seller with reasonable prices, great deals, honesty, integrity, have a long standing tie to the community or offer a service or project that is unique and worthwhile.
Getting out of this situation is easy.
Just be active. Post to the forums. Find a topic or thread to contribute to.
It's not too much to ask for some participation and contribution outside of scooping items or cashing out. The only reason this place is a hub for sales is that the community at large is popular and the userbase is very active. Coming here to only use that and not participating is exploitation of resources.
The "can't contribute" excuse or "I have nothing to talk about" is lazy. There are plenty of threads to post in, discussions to start, etc. It's not about spamming or churning.. it's not about post count. Its about bringing something to the table beyond a wallet and some PCBs. Post in a high score thread. Post pics of the rare stuff you own. If your interest in the Neo drove you here, there should be no problem in finding something in common. The Neo has been "officially dead" for a decade and the site is still very popular. We expanded our horizons, SNKP is still putting out games and we have an active Non-Neo focused set of sub-forums.
If this is too much to ask, we don't want you here
Be mindful of what you say. We all frequent other forums and pages. We see what you're doing. If you're going to insult the user base and your potential clients, that doesn't reflect badly on us. It reflects badly on you. We have long memories and we enjoy a good troll.
Yes, you can "appeal" our decision.
Feel free to post in this thread and explain WHY you shouldn't be market restricted. We'll be more than happy to explain why or review on a case by case basis. If you're just going to complain or flame us, save your finger power. You already know why we did this to you or should know now.
Neo-Geo.com is not your marketing arm, free ad-space, dumping ground or personal scooping site. It's an active community of members focused on enjoying retro-gaming, lively discussion and trolling people for dick pics and plane tickets.
Thank you for reading this.

2.6. Any user who has no interest in being a member of the community should not join the forum just to sell their items. These forums are not meant to be an equivalent of eBay or Yahoo! Auctions. Any user suspected of this kind of behavior may be subject to actions by Moderators and Administrators.
