Yes, you read that right. I would die for an old school KOF using an old timeline so we can see Jeff Bogard duke it out with some new and not so new faces in this final KOF! Think about it, if we could get Jeff in there, along with a young Geese Howard, the middle age team, a bit younger (but still old as hell) Tung, some other "old guys" and a slew of new faces. Oh yeah, and a young fighting prodigy by the name of Iori.

Why not do this? Really, someone give me one good damn reason! I think the game would be killer, and would love to play it myself. Too bad it will never be.

That is a very good idea. But many people won't like it because they want to see the timeline move forward and not backwards. Just the way it goes. It does like it could be a cool spinoff though.

Hell, there's so many things you could do in this one to feed the fans with, too. Have an intro and maybe a few victory stances feature young little Terry running out to his daddy! lol... If you would put young Iori in there, he could live on the battle of good and evil with Kyo's father in it, as well (I'm not sure how old Iori is, however). I would guess the main conflict in this story would be Geese vs Jeff, but that's all too obvious, now isn't it? I really could see a lot of other great ideas coming from this one, for sure. Who would hold the tourny and why, that's the only thing I cannot think of.... hmmmmm.
smile.gif

Oh yeah, I'm sure we could put the "new face team" in there, since aren't they orochi anyhow? Would we even have to change them all that much? I'm sure we could put all the blame on them being orochi and end it right there. Now, you've got them back, too! Let's see a new KOF do that without turning the story into a big mess (well, it's pretty screwed up as it is).

Spike, who spends too much time thinking about what games SNK should make, but won't

We had a thread about this a while ago

It's an awesome idea ^_^ The hardest thing is deciding what year it should be in. I mean, if it's in 1984 than Jeff is already dead, but if it's in 1981 (right before he's killed) then Ryo and Robert are still at their prime cause of the age discontinuity. Maybe KoF'75?
biggrin.gif

I used to have a cool cast set up for it, here's what I remember:

Geese Howard
Jeff Bogard
Riyaku Todoh
Wolfgang Krauser
Rudolph Krauser
Toji Sakata
Takuma Sakazaki
Goenitz
Chin Gentsai
Billy Kane (real young)
Sokaku Mochizuki
Heidern
Jin Chonshu
Jin Chonrei
Iron Snake
Guidel
Jack Turner (real young)
Tung Fu Rue
Jubei Yamada

In a KOF 75, it could be fun if the music was "old" too! Imagine the Shaft's theme in KOF!

Spike, I like the avatar and the idea!

King of Fighters 75..... LOL. Talk about retro. Its name alone will definitely stand out in any arcade palace. Believe dat!

Whoops, sorry Steve. Okay, so I'm not familiar with the timeline of Jeff's passing. Okay, KOF75 sounds good! But if so many people want to see it, why won't SNK make it? I'd love to see it, myself. Oh well, I guess some things just aren't meant to be.

Yeah, that would be sick if Terry ran out and jumped on his fathers back or something, maybe someday

No problem Spike

. I think it'd rock, all the cutscenes and stuff could be like the super funk Mark of the Wolves intro! (not the Geese one)
biggrin.gif

It'd be like taking Fatal Fury and giving it the Omega Man treatment!

A fine idea, truly. But alas, what in theory seems like a good idea is nothing more than a vision of grandeur by a futurist. Nevertheless sir, your thoughts of an old-school KOF were thought provoking and that, at least, is praiseworthy.

Well... If most games have that 'into the future' phases (like SF3 & MOTW)... Then there should be a game explaining about the past! We should know how Takuma created Kyukogen-Ryuu, how Geese killed Jeff & many other things... but alas, SNK can't hear us right now

A game set in the past would ROCK! and I think it would be a big success..... remember Capcom went backwards in time when they made Streetfighter Alpha, shame they didn't put Goutetsu or Gouken in it though.... or maybe even a "Good" Gouki..

KOF'75? Cool. Yes, it would rock.

Here are a few ideas for background elements:

- A Spain stage with a poster advertising Laurence Blood's next bullfight.

- A UK stage with a young Billy Kane in the background as well as Big Ben.

- The Brazilian village where Guidel lives.

Remember Street Smart? One of the player characters looks like Takuma (but considerably younger).

heh, i think it would be cool, by iori's story and background we know his father was always forcing him to train to defeat the kusanagi, and we know about the days iori's father would come home beaten by saisyu kusagagi (sp?) and take it out on poor iori....sigh....i wonder what he would look like, if i recall iori's father ends up killed because he pushed iori to far and was taken down in a fight between the two...they have a lot of good back story they could use....atleast it wouldnt be like the alpha games...set a game in the past to tell hardly anything about the current ones...

Thats an awesome idea... And as long as it had ANY Yagami, Id be happy. 70's funk filled cut scenes would just add to the gimmick, making the whole thing that much better... I dunno. I really wish SNK could at least HEAR the idea. Oh well.

How about Street Fighter Alpha (Zero)? That's supposed to take place before SFII, right? So, it can be done! ^_^

Yeah, but Charlie's flamboyant vest, Birdie's mohawk, and Ken's super mullet fused the Alpha series hopelessly into the eighties.
smile.gif

Oh, here's bonus games I'd have in it! (not totally relevant to the plot/characters)
biggrin.gif

1) Bogard Blast!

This will be similar to the Target 9 mini-game in MotM except with a scrolling screen and full bodes (like Operation Wolf or the Terminator 2: The Arcade Game). You play as either Ripper or Hopper and have to shoot as many Bogards as you can! Get hit by too many Power Geyers or Cho Reppa Dans and Geese Howard will fire you!
biggrin.gif

2) Udon Shodown!

You compete progressively against Sie Kensou, Gaira, Juzoh, Chang Koehan, and Earthquake in a food eating contest. Mash the buttons to finish your plate of food first and move on to the next competitor!
biggrin.gif

3) The King of Boxer!

A remake of SNK's first boxing game (King of Boxer) from the early eighties. You pick a character and have to duke it out with Heavy D!. A button punches high, B punches low, the D-Pad changes directions and blocks.
biggrin.gif

4) Blue Mary's Blues!

Similar to he Cat Walk mini-game in MotM. You play as Blue Mary and everytime you screw up she sings offkey. Mess up too much and Terry dumps you!

5) DOKKAN!

A fast top scroller shooting mini-game. You pick your favorite Ikari Warrior and blast as many bad guys as you can (without getting hit) until time runs out!
biggrin.gif

6) Spirit Training!

Play as either Ken or Robert and destroy as many of the popup targets as you can with ONLY your projectile move!

7) TEST YOUR MIGHT!

MASH BUTTONS! CHOP STUFF IN HALF! Should be a mandatory mini-game for ALL fighters!
biggrin.gif

8) Repo Man!

You play as Mr. Big and have to destory Robert's sport car within the alloted time!

is it just me, or is Fran's Jubei Yamada picture have Makoto, Ami, Usagi, and Rei from Sailor Moon as the schoolgirls?
*edit* so it wasn't just me, fran saw it as well. (why wouldn't he?)
tongue.gif
heh - didn't see that post.
yeah, so their hair colours are different... that's a standard cameo thing.
tongue.gif
usagi looks like she wants a rice cake.
biggrin.gif

i reckon it would be freaky kel to hear a funky version of all the character's themes. what would the backgrounds be like as well? *looks at first few minutes of Fatal Fury 1 anime and Wild Ambition introduction sequence*

The backgrounds would ROCK! Oh I forgot that I wanted Hanzo Shiranui and Mr. Big with huge afro action on my roster list too. The backgrounds should be shared by two characters each IMO, with six different versions (three versions for each character as the rounds go by):

Geese Howard/Jeff Bogard: Geese Tower, Southtown.

Takuma Sakazaki/Riyaku Todoh: East Side Park, Southtown.

Billy Kane/Jack Turner: Mac's Bar, Southtown.

Richard Meyer/Mr. Big: Pao Pao Café, Southtown.

Tung Fu Rue/Toji Sakata: Howard Arena, Southtown.

Jin Chonshu/Jin Chonrei: Delta Park, Southtown.

Goenitz/Guidel: Cruzeiro del Sul, Brazil.

Heidern/Iron Snake: Curitiba, Brazil.

Wolfgang Krauser/Rudolph Krauser: Castle Stroheim, Germany.

Jubei Yamada/Chin Gentsai: Sadogashima, Japan.

Hanzo Shiranui/Sokaku Mochizuki: Yokohama, Japan.
