How was your first experience with playing the system? What year was it?
And what was the first game you played?

If you mean the home console, then the year was 1993. That was when I received the Neo-Geo cart machine for Christmas. I also received World Heroes 1 & 2...

If you mean the first time I ever played a Neo-Geo game, then that was probably 1990 or 1991, I am not entirely sure because that is at least 9 years ago... but I do remember the game was World Heroes and it was at my local grocery store. Anyways... I loved it... but I didn't know there was a home system so I began accompanying my mom to the grocery store to play World Heroes whenever I could.

The first time I played a Neogeo was at lucky strike arcade. Streetfighter 2 had just come out on SNES and I though it was really cool, so I wanted to try the arcade version. When I got there I saw this cooler looking game called FATAL FURY 2. It really caught my eye cause the characters and backgrounds looked so much better than anything on SF2. I played the damn thing for nearly an hour! After this I was amazed with SNK games.

I mean the home console.

As for the arcade, well just to throw in my chip shot, it was like 1991 and the games were King of the Monsters and Fatal Fury. Then of course in 1992 with World Heroes. Man... what would we have done without Neo Geo!? ;)

I think it was about 1991.... anyway the game was Fatal Fury one. I actually remember loving the idea of having an extra button for throws :)

I got mine in October 1997, had to push a lot of carts to get it. I got Crossed Swords with it. I was so ecstatic about owning a neo that I didn't care how bad the game was.
As for the Arcade, My first game was KOM back in '91

The first time that I played the NEO*GEO AES was at an Electronic's Boutique back in 1990 or 1991 when they had a new playable demo unit on display. The game that I played was Top Player's Golf. That's the only game they had at the time. About six months later they stopped carying the system and games. :(

I think it was back in '93. Our local skating rink had an MVS with Fatal Fury,Samurai Shodown and Mutant League Nation. My first game I believe was Samurai Shodown.

Home system, it was Burning Fight.I had just started studying in London.Took all my Megadrive collection, over to Computer exchange on Oxford Street.Got 170 credit on everything,On the store shelves I saw dozens of neo geo cart machines at 90 quid!!!!!!!!!!!I took the "risk".and picked up a burning fight too. The carts were unlike anything I had ever seen although to be honest when I played burning Fight I thought the box was more impressive than the game, they seemed to have a distinctive aura about them, as a game BF just didnt have the fun of streets of rage 2 on the megadrive.
By the time I realised neo geo was an arcade system too, I was soon hooked on the awesome metal slug.

Burning Fight? It's pale comparing to SOR 2 or Final fight.
But a lot of later Neo games do prove that Neo Geo is the top notch home arcade machine

Ahhhh the first time i ever played the neo was way back in 1994 when i was only 11 years old. At the local arcade there was an mvs cabinet with what it is still one of my faves to date: Samurai Shodown. I remember how shocked i was at the excellent 2D graphics. I practiced as much as i could and soon i was beating alost all who dared to challenge me. I just remember all the older adults being amazed as a beat them with charlotte Needless to say, ive loved the neo ever since.

actually I never played an aes yet, just the cd system. as far as the MVS. I think I was in 8th or 9th grade so it was 95 or 96 and the game was sengoku. it was sick!. it was A two slot so I believe thrash ralley or over top was also in there.

The first time i played the arcade MVS neo geo was, golly Hmmm how many years ago? well probibly about 1993 or 1994. The first game i played was bust-a-move. I fell in love after that, i love that game Bust-a-move, too bad they didnt make the home version of it. speaking of bust-a-move can somone hook me up witha converted one? The first time i played the CD version was about a year ago. My friend has neo geo CD. The game i played was metal slug 2. i was already a fan of MS games. Then comes the AES home cart, well it wasnt too long ago, i called the store that my friend got his CD from and they had one in! $250. for the home cart system, memory card, Joystick, regular controller, NAM-1975, Fatal Fury Special, Magician lord, King of the monsters 1, the origianal box, and all the hook ups. I bought it went home and played the home cart for the first time.
