with the 3ds' luke warm reception this could make things interesting. The games looked absolutely amazing on the Vita. The battery life is going to be the big question mark though.
PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEEE be region-free, like psp. Fucking PLEASE. If it's region free, I will buy one. Not on day one, but on the first day after they have worked out the inevitable first generation kinks that are going to send early adopters ballistic. So, day one after that.

vita price
250-300
that is a seriously competitive price point.

I wish I still cared about handhelds. I'd probably be pretty pumped for this thing. I just can't justify getting another handheld after I barely played the DS (only when the power goes out in the house).

I'm at the point where I like handhelds more than full-size consoles. My psp gets more play now than all of my consoles combined.

I was sold on the vita until I found out no tv out. Lets face it its nice to have a portable on the very rare occasion we actually will play it somewhere else. But must of us are adults and we'll be playing it at home. So to me tv out is a must.

I enjoyed the Sony Conference. They showed a lot of games I was interested in and didn't come close to shoving Move down our throats in the fashion M$ did with Kinect. Vita is one sexy machine. Definitely getting it.

I was pleasantly surprised with Cole being in SFxT

Yeah, Vita is definitely secksy, but it's just a smidge bulky. Does anyone remember the early PSP demo units that were off-white? I've been trying to find photos / promo images of those ones forever. So nice looking.

Actually don't mind the bulk, in fact with that dual analog, I'd want that extra room. As a 3DS owner, I have to say that D-Pad is a fucking BITCH to use shoved in the far corner. It's almost like Nintendo wants you to play that with your palm.

While the Vita looks impressive, I said the same thing about the PSP, thought it was going to wipe the floor with the DS, and then Nintendo proceeded to begin raping the entire market. I will believe it's success once it's been out for a year or so.

It seems like the system with the weaker graphical power "wins" the console war:

NES over Master System and PC Engine, PS2 over GC and Xbox (if you don't count DC), Wii vs PS3 and 360, GB vs. Game Gear and Lynx, DS vs PSP, etc.

While true to some extent, the real reason is the company with the better marketing team wins.

The thing is is that the DS had a major price advantage last time. That is gone so this should make things interesting.

Nintendo has enough time to lower the price of the 3ds, so its not like the Vita being $250-$300 (very competitive for what is packing really) means all doom and gloom for Nintendo.

yeah this was the stand out for me, I assume it basically shows one frame to one player and blinds the other then alternates. but I wonder if that would make for a irritating flickery picture or ugly image?

If this monitor is lagless I may just have found the TV I want.

Probably pretty decently. I didn't see what this is referring to, but if it works similarly to how the movie theaters do 3D (not the way it is currently done at home), then it would be a pretty simple trick to pull off. The way 3D works in the theaters is the resolution of the screen is halved and every other row of pixels is sent to the corresponding eye. So, doing something similar with special glasses, one pair would see one half the screen, and the other person would get the other half. This could be very cool, and could even be pulled off with a very inexpensive passive glasses system. Of course, if it is working the way the movie theaters do their 3D, again, you're getting half resolution, but you'd be getting that and worse split screen. I think it's a pretty killer idea. Shows someone is thinking outside the box, at least.
