The water on the camera lens thing is WAY overdone in that demo, though. A little bit adds atmosphere. But they do it to the point it's obtrusive and obscures gameplay. You're supposed to be playing as Lara, not the cameraman standing behind her, so it doesn't even make sense to have the camera being obscured thing so prominent. Plus, the water droplets on the lens are too uniform in size and placement, which makes the whole effect look really artificial. I hope they refine it and tone it way down.

My guess is that they're going to be hearing a lot about that effect over the next few days. I noticed this too, and while the first time i saw it I thought 'oh cool', it quickly became annoying.

are you talking about at e3 or just in the 'look-at-me-i'm-so-jaded-i-think-all-games-made-in-the-past-10-years-suck' sense?

No I mean that they use to have big announcements. Like nothings jumping out like OMG this is such a big deal. However Konami's HD remakes make me happy.

For me, E3 is less exciting because of the Internet / broadband. You used to crack open your July issue of a magazine and be like HOLY SHIT! Turn the page and another HOLY SHIT! Now it's like "Rumor: XYZ That Will Turn Out to Be True." Nothing's much of a surprise anymore. Plus now you get to see everything all at once - no anticipation for seeing a trailer - just click and there it is.

3rd strike is all that has interested me so far and that game is 11 years old.

finally just watched the tomb raider demo....
the great atmosphere was interrupted by the water specs as others mentioned. Also, what is it with video games and thinking that you can start something on fire just by looking at it wrong....small nitpick I know, but it makes the "visceral" experience lost.

It's very early on, but is the entire game just one quick time event? There was really no other gameplay besides that

I'm not sure I like the smoothing. It doesn't look horrible in motion though.

Honestly Im not even impressed with that. I could use more than a port of a 11 yo game. Like I know capcom has to have those backgrounds saved in higher quality. Somewhere. Cant we get actualy HD quality backgrounds instead of streched and scaled? Also I'd like to just have all the backgrounds from sf3 and double impact to.

The water effects doesn't phase me, but her grunting and talking to herself does.

At first I thought that too, but honestly it captured the moment for me. It showed frantic and scared she was. It reminds me of myself when im freaked by something. She isn't a hard ass, but a novice that had shit hit the fan. Annoying maybe, but I think it makes the moment very real

The more I watch it the more I like it actually. I'm pretty stoked for 3rd strike online. I wish they'd give us a concrete release date.

Don't see the appeal of the Tomb Raider trailer. Looked to me like it was on autopilot for most of the trailer, and then when it the player was finally in control of Lara they used the magic "show you exactly what to do button" disguised as "survival instinct".

The concept is cool, the graphics are cool, and the game may very well end up being fun. But based on what I've seen so far, I'd probably get the same experience playing it as I would watching someone play it on Youtube.

The effects that filmakers strive to avoid suddenly become acceptable in video games? I noticed this trend from 96 to present day and it has become tiresome.

I liked that TR vid. Sort of reminds me of Uncharted.
Liked the Rayman Origins vid too. The hand drawn graphics were pretty cool.

So far these press conferences are meh, especially MS's and Sony's so far. I hope Nintendo can bring it tommorow

I've DVR'ed everything on Spike and G4 (The only time I ever watch that piece of shit channel) and haven't watched anything yet. So far I judge they want to once again shove Move and Kinetct down our throats, both I'll never buy. I can't wait for tomorrow. It's going to be hilarious seeing that MS and Sony are still trying to play catchup with Nintendo and their going to break out something that's hopefully new and exciting. I'm just not looking forward to the price if it's going to be an HD console with an iPod like controller. It'll be something the kids won't get their hands on to mess up. But knowing how Nintendo always keeps families first they'll find a way.

Nintendo just got bitch-smacked.

with the 3ds' luke warm reception this could make things interesting. The games looked absolutely amazing on the Vita. The battery life is going to be the big question mark though.

If it's not running on a disk drive that's a good sign, but that brings up something I didn't think of yet, with all this real estate for dual screens, buttons, etc, where the hell will they even squeeze that battery in, let alone how good will it be?
