Yes it was, in Sega's booth. Thank God you can, in fact, shut the damn filter off and get pure, pixelated goodness.

I kno, rite?!?

There is a fighting renascence on such a level that pipe dreams like III impact redeaux & XIII for home get announced...but no final tuned for consoles?!?

Bah.
exactly. We can get a fucking game with Street Fighter and Tekken characters in it but a console version of Final Showdown is just totally out of the question. Fuck you Sega you assholes.

Well you know vf5 sold absolutely horrible and was marked down within a month. Solution you should go buy a million new copies of vf5. Its a fucking amazing game but Sega doesnt know how to market it into popularity again. Really Street Fighter VS tekken isnt a game anyones ever wanted. We've always wanted Virtua Fighter vs Tekken and im sure that would bring enough attention Sega's way to merit some more vf love.

Except Tekken and Street Fighter are two franchises that people here actually give a shit about. So you take two popular franchises, and look what happens. Pretty much what DID happen: fans of both franchises go bananas over it.

When you say, "We've always wanted VF versus Tekken," the people you're talking about are the people who already play VF. Which isn't a lot of people in the US. You can choose to either accept it or not, but it's the truth. SF vs. Tekken has a much higher chance of success.

Plus, Namco and Capcom already have a history of producing games together.

sf vs tekken doesn't make sense.

Tekken is extremely popular over in the Japanese arcades, even moreso than VF. SF is really popular everywhere. It makes sense.

If in terms of popularity,
sure, they're popular.
In terms of gameplay,
no.
A 2d vs 3d game?
Fireballs vs hand to hand.
Imo it's a train wreck waiting to happen.

O ye of little faith.

It's going to be weird, I'll give you that. But both games are going to be adjustments. Namco's is not going to be straight-up Tekken style, and Capcom's game isn't going to be pure SF style.

You are on a roll this week, it seems.

The Capcom videos don't LOOK 3D. It looks like a 2D game with 3D models, similar to SSF4. Unless you are saying you think that turned out terrible.

The gameplay is on a 2d field with 3d models just like SSFIV. The game will play great as most of the people that have had a chance at it already will testify.

I'll say it for him. I think SF4 sucked. Its absolutely nothing I wanted.

You not liking something is different than it "turning out terrible." The game is a huge success for a reason.

One Im completly at a lost to understand.

It obviously works on a competitive level, since the game has completely revitalized the tournament scene.

Aesthetically? Yeah, it's not my cup of tea. But I know the difference between something that isn't completely my bag, and something that is trash. You can say a lot about SFIV, but you can't call it worthless.

well then you should have paid attention to the interviews when they mentioned this game doesn't play like SF4. Lots of juggles, strings, and launchers to be had.

STK gets it. This is about the only two fighting game series from Japan that can be recognized anywhere around the world. The game looks fun as hell and if people can get off about the projectiles (which Tekken has some too) you'll realize its a pretty cool idea.

Steve v Balrog
That sumo guy v Honda
heihachi v Akuma

Some awesome dream matches to be fought out.

I'm personally super stoked for this.

Back on topic: OVerall e3 2011 was meh city. Not much that really grabbed my interest. Vita is a handheld which is nothing I care about and the WiiU could be interesting, but ultimately I'd need to play with it to believe it. That was how I was with the Wii and once I realized it operated worse than a Middle East peace plan I stepped away.

Without SFIV I'd bet serious money we wouldn't have had MK9, MvC3, or SFxT.

Graphics wise yeah, but gameplay wise I'm not so sure about that. Launchers and flat out uncontrolled offense? Doesn't sound like SFIV to me.

It's going to be a compromise, clearly. Somewhere between the two games' styles, and probably a little closer to SF. And the opposite will probably be true with Namco's version. It will most likely play full 3D and cater slightly more to the Tekken audience. Honestly, that's the one I'm a lot more curious to see.

There will always be complainers, and they may not be to everyone's taste, but anyone who thinks these games aren't going to do mad business is delusional.
