"Crimes are committed by the living, therefore, all living things must die."
- Judge Death

His verdicts are divisive, but no one can argue that he doesn't lower crime rates. 😉

But will his math abilities suffer in consequence? Furthermore, is it intentional??? Find out next year, when our GPS chips are activated by nWo

LoneSage bullying me into changing my avatar has worked wonders for me with the ladies (thanks, bro). This morning, at my weekly Covid test (we went back to once a week again, instead of twice), the two RNs told me that they were going to give me THREE rectal swabs and I told them I was still sore from last week and wanted to speak to my union representative. 😂 I work with some classy girls, y'all.

My parents got the Johnson and Johnson vaccine today. I wish I had signed up for that one instead since it's only one shot but I took what was available when I made the appointment. Getting my first Moderna dose in a few hours.

Getting my mom to take the vaccine was an accomplishment. She's absolutely horrified of needles.

Hopefully my grandma can be convinced to get it now that she sees my parents didn't spontaneously combust from it like Facebook said they would.

Hey, just throwing this out there-

Does anyone feel like their personality has changed within the past year? Possibly because of the impact covid has brought on all our lives.

Good on you for convincing your parents to get it, and good luck with convincing your grandma too. One of my co-workers, who is 70 (not sure if she's single or not, but, I should find out, right?) has an old high school buddy, same age, with Covid, who's in intensive care right now, on a ventilator, in a medically-induced coma, fighting for her life (she didnt believe in the vaccine). Shit's real y'all.

My personality has changed. Covid is part of it, both directly and indirectly (it has added many new responsibilities and problems at my job for example), but, I have many sources of stress in my life besides Covid that affect my mood and outlook on life too.

It was easy to convince my dad, all I had to do was set the appointment for him on the website. He had no fear or opposition to the vaccine, he just doesn't fux with the internet.

My grandma is the one who needs it the most. My parents and I already had the virus and recovered from it. My grandma spent most of the pandemic quarantining at her sister's house in California and only recently drove home, never had it.

I have less patience for the sheer stupidity of the human race at times...most notably at work.

Absolutely. After a year of seeing basically no one but my GF and the 2 people i work with, my introverted general hatred for most people i encounter has definitely leveled up to super saiyan proportions. Socializing is a skill for me, and since i havnt been using it, i think i have definitely been losing it.

It has for me. I’m an angrier person for it, and I lose my cool at people a hell of a lot faster now.

I would say yes but only because I applied for a managerial position at work and received it. That was in May IIRC.

Been a lot of ups and downs in accepting this position and it’s certainly helped me grow I suppose. At 38 I finally “feel” like an adult.

Managing employees during COVID has been challenging.

It's definitely chipped away at my occasional optimism toward humans and society. Once in a great while, I'll think, wow we've done some cool stuff and are on the whole pretty capable of not being shitty. Now, it's like people, as a whole, have proven that we're as stupid, gullible, and inconsiderate as possible.

I just bought my first concert tickets since early March 2020. They're for late September but I'm still not feeling very safe / confident about it. I paid the extra $18 for insurance in case I want to cancel. It's for a band my GF likes. A band that I like announced a show this summer, but I def don't feel comfortable slappin' bellies with a bunch of shirtless sweaty dudes.

I hear that. I’ve definitely struggled with my own outlook oscillating between the Star Trek future I know we can achieve and some shit future where I abandon society and live in the woods as a hermit until I die.

I known realistically we’re some kind of mess in between. But some days humanity can’t just get fucked.

Just do it and get a covid test afterwards.

At work yesterday, I was surprised to discover that maintenance had reduced the size of our isolation unit by two rooms (we just erected a partition/door at the end of the C-wing hallway, to separate those rooms from the rest of the facility, and they simply moved the partition back further). It's heartening to see actual physical progress against the pandemic like that. We haven't had any in-house Covid cases, other than employees, we just quarantine new admissions there, as well as residents who had to stay overnight at a hospital, before we put them in general population (I sure make it sound like a prison, don't I?)

"Elopement in progress!!! All staff to the front doors!!!" That klaxon goes off over the loudspeakers everyday, several times, at work. Sometimes it's my co-workers or visitors being dumbasses (even me on occasion, it's easy to forget to put the keypad code in or have the door open too long), sometimes it's a resident trying to escape (they've got bracelets on their wrists/ankles that trigger alarms if they try to go outside or enter the back kitchen/laundry area). 😞

We're located on a highway. Years ago, before I worked there, a resident did get outside, onto the road, and was struck and killed by traffic. A resident getting outside when it's icy and 20 below zero in the winter is bad news too.

To be honest Sagey....

I work with the public and I saw the level of patience and understanding at an all time low...

People went to town on other people who stood too close or didn't wear masks... these were the same people who happily stood in line together only a matter of days earlier... The paranoia was great...

As for myself on a personal level... I found I actually chilled the hell out.... as I figured... What will be... will be...

Good news at work this morning! Provided you've been vaccinated, which I have, we don't have to do the weekly Covid swab test anymore after today (coonts that didn't want to get vaccinated still have to do it though). I'm hopeful that we won't have to wear masks anymore soon too, but, that probably won't happen.
