I've really gotten into cigars as of late. Stocked my humidor for the Autumn season.

Anyone else here into cigars?

Collect?

Smoke?

Let's discuss.

Here's my current stock.

My favorite is Romeo y Julieta.

I smoke cigars once every 1-3 years depending on special events and such. It's definitely not enough for me to invest in a nice humidor, but I do have an Ashton cutter.

I prefer Romeo y Julieta, Partagas, and the dark wrap Ashtons when it comes to brand, but I really tend to lean towards the darker cigars.

When I was visiting Canada, I dropped a good chunk on a Bolivar Royal Corona from Cuba. I lit up in my friend's back yard and DAMN. It stayed lit the whole way through, it was very well rolled, and smoking it was just... wow. I seriously got a buzz off of it. Totally worth every penny.

i would probably ditch the lighter for a nice box of matches. better for the flavor and setting up a nice even burn.

lol cut them in half, empty tobacco, put medicinal weed inside. rinse. repeat.

Cigars haa!

edit: I really love tobacco, and spliffs, so add a little tobaccy in there if you like.

I have a Cuban Monte Cristo I'm saving:

From what I hear, most Cuban cigars aren't really any better than most, with a lot of bigger families moving so they can trade with America.

I left my torch in Atlanta last week, the Bic has to do for now.

I've never lit a cigar with a match.

Just don't like it.

Just make sure to blow out when lighting.

Given how long a regular lighter would take to fully light it, sucking in would taint the entire stoogie with gas fumes.

I picked up a bundle of Connecticut Cornonas last week, overall they're great.

I can usually get a Bic to burn it in less than 10 seconds. My torch with some special clean butane my uncle gave me does it in 3 seconds.

I get an ashy taste from taking hits on match-lit cigars.

Might be me, but I taste the wood and sulphur.

Not classy but I like Al Capones. I like the taste but mostly because it doesn't take a week to smoke them.

Never tried them.

Guy I was talking to said there is no wrong cigar.

$70 or $3 cigar - you have to smoke what you like.

The Romeo y Julieta's aren't too pricey, yet they are so satisfying.

I have a soft spot for Fuentes. Gran Reserva, Petite Coronas are what I go for if I want to sit down and have a drink and a smoke. I used to keep them in a humidor, but if I have them, I smoke them. There are cigar shops all over the place. There's one literally across the street from me. I haven't even been in there yet, but I will eventually.

Nice smokes Nick.

So, do you guys punch or cut?

I was told that a straight cut is the best for truly enjoying a cigar.

Gives you the real draw and burn.

A punch "funnels" the tobacco into a resin at the base of the cigar, leaving a bad, strong taste.

I cut at an angle. I can't remember the benefits, but cutting seems to make the draw a little easier.

Punching was always a pain in the ass for me. When I worked in a cigar shop, and the guest wanted a punch, I'd have to work to get a relatively clean hole. Sometimes I'd luck out and get a nice, round cut, but most of the time it would come out kind of messy.

I cut straight.

I used a punch a few times, same outcome as you.

Picked up a pair of Padrón SERIE 1926 NO. 9 - gonna smoke one tomorrow.

Also got a pair of Ashton VSG's...

And a Punch.

If anyone can get me some Cohiba Behikes, I'd pay EXTREMELY well.

Lit up a Fuente petite today... Nearly put me on my ass.

Want to try this Java I've been aging for a year... Heard it tastes like a Godiva chocolate bar in correct aging environments.

See how I did.

personally, no. i think its a filthy habit... unlike heroin.
i have a friend though who has one of those cyclist bicycles and will slowly ride around with a cigar in his mouth.
i believe he keeps a cigar in his mouth while bathing to as one day i was visiting him and his roommate and he came out of the bathroom with a towel around him and a cigar in his mouth.

Just for interest's sake, how often do you smoke?

Varies.

Used to be 2 a week or less.

I've recently "really" gotten into it.

Using cheaper, but decent, cigars to kick a nasty Copenhagen habit.

Smoked 2 today.

1 and a half yesterday.

Really craving a chew, but I'm gonna sleep it off.

I'm picking up a box of Cohiba Robusto's tomorrow from a friend. Pretty damn good deal.

Romeo e Julietta are the only cigars I buy on a pretty regular bases. Very nice with a good single malt.
Also saw in the pic I use the same cutter as Tonk does.

I'd like to get a nicer cutter, but I have a dual blade hard ABS unit that does what it's supposed to do.

Ditched the Bic for a cheap torch till mine gets shipped back.

Smoked a Padrón SERIE 1926 NO. 9 - rated a 94.

Didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

This thing got some very high marks.

First off, the draw was waaaay too soft. Almost like sucking through a large straw.

I got faint hints of the black cherry that were included in the review, but most were overpowered by leathery bitterness.

Dunno if it was a bad batch or what.

Got a few Romeo y Julieta Cuban's coming... I hope the smoke is as creamy as I read.

Got an offer on a Behike... $750, for one.

No thanks.

Have an Ashton Virgin Sun Grown lined up for tomorrow.

Gonna see what the hype is all about.

Cuban's should be here mid week, so I'll have some impressions on them.

Dealing with a great source that was given to me.

Anyone else import Cuban's?

i could probably get you some. i mean if all i have to do is ship em over it wouldn't be a lot of trouble. they sell em here, have a big shop in town full of cigars. also some of that havana club rum. my mom loves it, reminds her of back home. i always smuggle some rum back with me. as for cigars, i never tried, but i'm sure it can't be too hard.
