[The Change-Up] July, Real Bout Special, NGBC and Super Street Fighter II

Apologies for the delay and welcome back to the Change-Up for July.!

Familiar Fighting Games w/ Unfamiliar Characters.





This month we have Real Bout Special for the Neo-Geo, and for your non-Neo games, NeoGeo Battle Coliseum and Super Street Fighter II!

Same Rules as last month, but a refresher for our newcomers:

This is not a competition. The idea is to put a fresh spin on games that we have played (and in many cases over-played).

1) Any members may participate. If you are interested in playing either or both of the games like this, then post up and tell us who you normally use for these games, or if you've never played them before, what character styles you generally use, example: characters with Ryu/ken type movesets, or grapplers like Zangief etc.

2) After you've posted, other members will give you suggestions of who to use. It could be a good character you never really use, or just someone wacky. If you get several suggestions, pick the ones you like as long as they are not your normal characters. Then try to beat the game with your "unfamiliar" characters. After playing come back and post to tell us how far you got (beat 2 guys, or 4, or got a 1cc etc.)

3) Some of the characters in these games are made to be low tier type fighters (like Dan). You can challenge someone to use one of these types of characters.

I'm in for RBFF:Special and SSF2, no NGBC for me, I don't own it.

I haven't played either game for awhile, but I typically always just used Terry or Joe in any FF and Ryu or Ken in any SF, or similar balanced, non-grappling characters in other fighters. Who should I use guys?

I'm definitely in!!

For FF I've always stuck to Terry, so anyone would be new for me except Mai since I played her alot in KOF and CvS. SSF2 I've always been Ken. And for NGBC, I have it, but I've only played it a few times so I don't think I have a set team, basically I'll take any suggestions here

Ill join in as soon as I get paid for RBS. The only FF character I have ever used is Terry, and I am a total fighter novice.

Interestingly enough, my entry into this reads suspiciously similar to Mugi's...

Mai for the FF's/KoF's, Ken for the SF's, and no real set anything for NGBC. Suggest awayyyyy!

Possible suggestions for some of you other guys coming in the edit/later post, gotta think about it some.

Just to chip in, as I'm (fortunately?) one of those types who likes to use everyone...

If you don't already use Andy or Kim in Real Bout, you really should do yourselves a favour and dig in. Seriously.

If you want something a bit different, yet surprisingly good, go with one of the twins: Chonrei or/and Chonshu.

It's hard to go wrong in RBS tbh. Everyone, in their own right, is pretty damn amazing.

Super Street Fighter II - I'd definitely suggest getting down and dirty with Deejay or FeiLong! They both feel very different from anyone else and are very rewarding to learn imo.

NGBC - challenge yourself to put Kyo in your team. Hardly anyone seems to use him (he's quite complicated) but once you get to grips with him, again, he's great to use.

Seconding the recommendation for Chonrei, as he is one of my mains (along with Terry) for RBS. Have not tried Kim yet for that game, so I guess I know who to give it a go with!

ok beef lemme start ya out......ok in rbff special why dont you start out with franco bash. he is a very powerful character and one of my fav to play.
and for ssf2 how bout .....oh i got it balrog!!! he is also a sweet charter with amazing strength i figure id keep you in boxing gloves for both of these. im telling you they are great characters that normaly get over looked

ok foxgirl ill keep it simple for ya......how bout billy kane for rbffs figure if you cant get his moves down you always have that stick of his to hit people over the head with hahaha

whisper my boi i got you on this one....... for rbffs why dont you go with cheng he has some charging moves so its alil diff from playn as a ken type character. and for ssf2 why dont you give dee jay a try. he is also another charge type but very deadly when used right. for ngbc how bout the wierd team of marco and cyber woo. i believe they have a special combo together but dont quote me on it.

I'll go for RBFFS ans SSF2T.

RBFFS I usually use everyone except White, Lawrence, and Blue Mary

SSF2T I run the whole gamut in this game but my mains are Sagat, Dictator, Balrog, Zangief, and Blanka. Of course everyone uses Shoto characters so please exclude them.

as for me i play every street fighter charcter......so pick anyone i dont care....or pick no one hahaha. for rbffs ive playd joe andy terry franco wolfgang mai and kim so anyone else is surly welcomed. and now to ngbc ive played it and not too much but most of the charcters i use in other games. id say gimmie some not to main guys in series and ill see what i can do with them.

RBFFS: you should use Hon Fu

SSF2T: Use Dhalsim

Ok so I may have to sit out from NGBC. So far, I really like the game, however I don't have a stick for ps2 and I nearly broke my thumb playing 3 matches with that shitty "D-pad"

RBS is really cool though. Tried Krauser like Dip said. I dig the combo hits, and the art style, kinda reminds me of like a Fatal Fury "Alpha" so to speak.

Gonna suck this month. Soooooo can't stand charge chars.

Not really a case of getting out of my comfort zone, here. I just don't like the way they work mechanically at all. This won't be very fun

Edit: Yep. Just played both Cheng and DeeJay. Don't like them. At All. NGBC it is.
